No resignation from state GOP leader over Muslim comment
http://www.insidenova.com/headlines/no-resignation-from-state-gop-leader-over-muslim-comment/article_05cd78aa-1a50-11e4-b39e-001a4bcf887a.html

So far, Virginia Republican party treasurer and Nokesville resident Bob FitzSimmonds hasn't bowed to pressure to resign his political post over a recent Facebook comment some say is offensive to Muslims.

But Bill Card, head of the Prince William County Republican Committee, said Friday a resignation is "probably an appropriate step."

FitzSimmonds is facing mounting criticism for the comment he wrote earlier this week in response to President Barack Obama's Facebook post marking the end of the Muslim holiday Ramadan.

Obama offered American Muslims best wishes for the holiday and thanked them for "contributing to the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy."

FitzSimmonds retorted: "Exactly what part of our nation's fabric was woven by Muslims? What about Sikhs, Animists and Jainists? Should we be thanking them too?"

Whether or not to resign "is up to him," Card said. "But he has to at least make certain this doesn't happen again. And he probably should apologize."

Card said he has heard from leaders of a Woodbridge area mosque that members there are "very distressed" about about FitzSimmonds' remarks.

"I'm very disappointed that it happened," Card added. "That statement is not representative of who we are. We're an inclusive organization and we don't divide up Americans by groups, not ethnically, not religiously, not by race. That's not who we are."

FitzSimmonds, 62, has long been active in local Republican politics. He currently serves as treasurer of the state Republican party, works full-time for Prince William County as Circuit Court Clerk Michele McQuigg's deputy chief, a politically appointed post, and has run for state senate or delegate several times over the years, most recently in 2011.

But he's found himself in hot water twice in recent months over comments he's written on Facebook.

When word of FitzSimmonds' Muslim comment spread beyond the confines of social media some of his fellow party cried foul, insisting that such intolerance has no place in the modern Republican party.

"Resign!" Del. David Ramadan, R-Loudoun, posted on his Facebook page Wednesday night.

On Thursday, FitzSimmonds posted another comment in defense of his first post.

"Modern day Muslims are integral and important members of our society, but that is not really pertinent to my previous comment. "Muslims were not around in the 1700s to 'build the very fabric of our nation' as asserted by the President. If he had opined that Christians 'built the very fabric of Afghanistan or China' I would have been equally dismissive."

But Ramadan was still angry Friday and said he felt certain the state Republican party would be announcing FitzSimmonds' resignation later that day. So far that hasn’t happened.

While FitzSimmonds is entitled to his personal opinions, Ramadan said, he should not be making such comments about Muslim as an elected leader of the state's Republican party.

Ramadan, who is Lebanese and was born into a Muslim family but has since converted to Christianity, said the values of the Party of Lincoln leave no room for religious bigotry "and the misrepresentation of our values has to stop."

"The fabric of this great nation is built and continues to be woven on a daily basis by every loyal patriot American, whether they are Jews, Muslim, Christians or any religion," Ramadan said. "…this is the party of Lincoln. This is a party that represents everybody in the community regardless of their religion."

Earlier this year, FitzSimmonds committed another Facebook faux pas when he posted a comment that some interpreted as disparaging to Republican congressional candidate Barbara Comstock.

When a commenter wrote that she thought Comstock would appeal to women voters, FitzSimmonds wrote that the comment was "sexist" and used an offensive slang word for woman.

Readers expressed outrage at his use of the term “twat” and some understood him to have used it regarding Comstock.

But FitzSimmonds reportedly apologized, removed the comment and explained that he mistakenly thought the word meant “nonsense talk” and had no idea the word is a epithet for a female body part.

Calls and emails to FitzSimmonds and McQuigg, his boss, were not returned Friday.

As deputy chief for McQuigg, FitzSimmonds has a mostly administrative and organizational role for the circuit court, according to a job description provided county spokesman Jason Grant.

FitzSimmonds earns an annual salary of about $82,000 in his county post, Grant said.

Nope, that's according to what Muslims say about themselves.

Unlike PC morons here, they don't pretend that Muslim extremists don't exist. They have to deal with it more directly than we do.

This is just David Ramadan trying his best to deflect from the attention of the Gov. McDonnell trial and the attention he's received from it.

Everyone knows that David Ramadan is ethically challenged, but is now making the argument that he's really ethnically challenged.

Haha fuckin paradox there champ. If all muslims are bad, then the millions, the vast majority, of muslims who condemn those extremists shouldn't also be lumped into it.

You see how the muslim public shares concern about extremist groups? That should be clue number 1.

Then there's the millions of muslims living in America that condemned the 9/11 attacks of course. Then theres the millions living overseas who did also. But no, lets show the same fox footage of the moron country bumpkins in the middle east. A crowd of a couple hundred. Sorry but most of the time when people condemn something they are generally a little more quiet about it compared to radicals, so thats why all you see is the radicals, cause it makes for good tv. Same reason why if you were to say something retarded, or this GOP moron politician, he's the one that gets attention, not the normal minded americans who haven't been fucked up in their brain by generational brain washing.

Either way, your own link is your paradox isn't champ? You can't on one hand say no muslims condemn extremists because they are all bad, and then give us a link about how they are specifically saying that the extremists fuck up everything.

New plan, how about you racist douchebags, the taliban, and all the low information violent protesters around the world take a long flight to Ayn Rand's orgasmic Atlas Shrugged utopia where you can pay no taxes, have no government, enslave your women, and fight each other to your hearts delight. The rest of us normals will enjoy the world a lot better with out you.

Fuck off.

And in terms of sullying their white robes, its easy for us americans, with the most advanced military equipment in the world sitting in a control room in Alabama shooting ducks via video game to say, jeez these muslims over seas don't even fight the extremists. But then again, the extremists are extreme you moron. They have russian and US supplied military equipment they have been stock piling ever since Reagan established the Taliban militias to fight off the Soviets in the 1980s.

So how about you take whatever weapon might be found in a farm, or whatever you can afford on a farmer's annual income in the middle east, and try to take out a couple hundred people carrying assault rifles, rocket propelled grenades, and a warehouse full of ordinances... then report back to us and tell us how amazingly courageous and victorious you were.

You keep referring to the minorities of those groups and inferring their actions onto the larger group. Its a very black and white GOP mentality of good and bad, because your little brains can't differentiate reality and the various gradients that life presents.

The US military has more hispanics/muslim/black people fighting for it than white dumbass hick redneck republitards, so how about next time you see a hispanic, muslim, or black person you find out if they are a good person or a bad person before condemning them. Uhhhh no dumbshit... The earlier post was mine not theirs.

The point being that it's not a matter of thinking that all Muslims are extremists. Virtually nobody believes that. It's the denial by PC-tards like yourself that large numbers of - not "just a few" - extremists exist within the Islamic world. According to Pew and some others who have attempted to quantify such things, somewhere between about 2% - 7% of the Muslim population overall, varying by country and in some areas reaching large percentages of the populous who believe as fundamental aspects of their religion things like it's cool to carry out attacks on innocents in the name of defending Islam and that nonbelievers who don't accept the prophet can justifiably be killed. I'll let you do the math yourself to figure out what even the low-end is at 2% of somewhere around 2 billion people. It has more impact that way. Hell, go ahead and reduce that number by 10X to make yourself feel better and it's still millions of people.

Second, the Pew data does not represent a paradox but, rather, as I said, shows that Muslims understand very well the problems that extremists within them represent even if your own PC sensitivities won't let you do the same. They are the ones who are much more affected by the actions of such groups and don't have the luxury of pretending that they don't exist. As you do, goups like CAIR do attempt to paint anyone outside of, and most within, who recognize and talk about the problem as being racists. Makes it easier to deny that way.and immediately puts the other side in a defensive position. A very common tactic used when attempting to defend the indefensible.

And between 6-10% of people in our country have been or are currently in prison. Whats your point. When you are talking about single digit percentages, it kinda defeats the main point that you are trying to create, that muslim = extremist. Its akin to neonazi/radical anti-government right wingers in the US, or atleast it used to be 20 years ago before Oklahoma City.

There are pyschotics that use religion for their own power goals all over the world, whether Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or Shinto doesn't matter. Religion is the idiocy that people like you use to pick right and wrong, black and white. Whether its the moron southern baptists, or the taliban, just brothers from a different bitch mother.

Muslims are a highly affluent demographic in America. American Muslim women are the most highly educated per capita in the U.S. They have the highest percentage post graduate degrees of any group of people in this country. You dumb ass rednecks only know what Fox News tells you.

Gee, Gerry, could you source that? You are beginning to sound like your doppelganger who thinks that throwing money at every government agency will solve its scandals. You just throw out words without thinking.

Here's your source. 43 percent of American Muslim Women hold post graduate degrees compared to 29 percent of American women overall. Very strong employment rate for Muslims overall. 30 percent professional, 25 percent self employed. Like I said, hard working, highly educated tax paying citizens.

Public officials should be held to account. We are not a theocracy and he should immediately be dismissed for his comments. If Prince William County fails to act its tax paying citizens that were referenced have been discriminated against by a sitting public official for their religious affiliation.

The argument can be made that their Constitutional rights as Americans are being violated.

lol!

WTF are you talking about? He made a simple comment on Facebook. Nobody's rights were violated.

If anything it's his own rights to free speech that are being violated in being politically persecuted by fucktards like you.

As a public official it his oath to refrain from making public comments which are discriminatory to the citizens of his County which may create the perception that the government does not fully adhere to its constitutional duty to uphold the separation of church and state.

Hahaha. Come on, even you have to be gagging a little after vomiting that hairball up.

Even with your dumbshit reasoning, it would be Obama who singled out Muslims and, as dumb as your non-point is, blurred the 'separation of church and state.' Why did Obama single out Muslims for recognition ahead of and discriminating against other groups. Buddhists? Sikhs? Have they not done enough to merit recognition for the fabric woven by them?

And even if your dumb oath crap were true, which it's not, it has absolutely nothing to do violating anyone's Constitutional rights as you'd suggested in your previous idiot post.

Moral of the story - You're completely full of shit.

YOU were the one saying that it was somehow discriminatory and blurring the line between church and state DUMBASS.

There's nothing discriminatory in FitzSimmonds statement. If you want to pursue that line of idiot reasoning, then there is in Obama selectively recognizing Muslims, whether Ramadan or not. Did Obama do the same for Vesak of Maha Shivaratri?

You guys are illogical hypocritical xenophobes.

The fact is George W. Bush held the same dinners. I would assume you would also be against Christmas dinners or a White House Christmas tree as well then correct?

It's a White House tradition to mark religious holidays and seeing how we're not a theocracy that only acknowledges a single religion its simply been a matter of White House tradition.

Muslims were the slave traders; the slaves were usually animists. Europeans never even left the ships: the fellow Africans would deliver up their captured slaves to Europeans on planks that would extend from land right up to the ship.

Alex Haley created this myth that white Europeans got off the boat and went into the bush and captured Africans with nets. It fits well with the bogus Black Liberation ideology that flows here and there, but sorry, the African slave trade existed for thousands of years before white Europeans arrived.

As far as the "initial wealth", the only thing blacks created were southern plantations, which were all destroyed by Lincoln. All the wealth created by the slaves was destroyed by Lincoln. There is no initial wealth created by the slaves. All the southerners were bankrupted.

My favorite Black Liberation Theology myth is that the Europeans stole their knowledge from the library of Alexandria in Africa: the only problem is that the city of Alexandria, and it's library, was created by the descendants of Greek Generals in the wake of Alexander.

There is no black African library in Africa. There never was one. Their knowledge was handed down orally.

Listen up DUMBASS and try to follow along.

YOU were the one saying that it was somehow discriminatory. Not me. I don't give a fuck what Bush or Obama did. I don't believe that what Obama or FitzSimmonds said was in any way discriminatory. I don't even give a shit if it was discriminatory.

But IF you're going to claim that there was anything at all 'discriminatory' or mixing 'church and state' about this incident, then it wouldn't be on the part of FitzSimmonds who questioned the selective mention of one group versus others as opposed to Obama who did.
