When did Americans get the idea that it’s a good idea to silence the opposition?

How did such an anti-American idea become acceptable and so popular?

Free speech, no matter whether we liked what was said or not has always been tolerated as a trademark of America.

The idea of burning books was an appalling and absolutely unAmerican act.

Now, Americans are emulating China from controlling the news and and even discussions of ideas.

America is allowing the Left to create a one-party nation because half the country is buying into the idea that their fellow Americans are racist Nazis. Which they have to know isn’t true. I mean, in my daily life I have never seen a racist Nazi, ever. I’ve never seen one ever in my entire life.
