"Baseball Bill" Holdforth was a #1 Baseball fan in the Wash DC area . He was from Forest Hill /Oxen Hill Md where he could have gone to DC's Meades Liquors on the DC/MD line to buy cases of cold Bud at age 18 when it was 21 here in Virginia prior to July 1st 1974 when Va went to 18 for the foamy beer. Bill could also roll some balls at the old bowling alley next to Meades back in the day and got more Bud on tap there with plenty of burgers and fries pizza and club sandwiches to keep his weight up to at least a youthful 350 pounds.

After Bill graduated from HS he got a job at RFK as a baseball game usher for the Washington Senators team , as an usher Baseball Bill got two free beers each game as well as others to quaff his thirst.

All was well until Senators owner Bob Short moved the team to Texas in th every early 1970's and all hell broke out with his Washington Senators fans .

Baseball Bill happened upon a dummy with pants shirt tie and paper mache head he named Bob Short and planned for a fans revenge as he lost his free two beers a game and then his job later, he knew ushers at the Orioles stadium in Baltimore and he and friends snuck in behind Bob Short where Bill held up the dummy Bob behind his back with Bills friend a sign saying Bob stunk as a picture was snapped and fans laughed. The picture was published in the Washington Post and Baseball Bill became a top fan of the time known to readers.

Bill ended up as a bartender at the famous Capitol Hill watering hole Hawk and Dove where customers asked him trivial baseball questions Bill was a answer master of , while he served up loads of cold Bud and other drinks for many years there. "Baseball Bill" Holdforth died in 2017 at age 66 after a life of fun baseball and beer being one time a winner of a beer drinking contest in the 70's where he won 1000 dollars after drinking 34 Buds and daring anyone present to beat him right after for a one hour beer drinking bout , no one took Bill up as at that time he must have weighed at least 400 pounds and could down staggering amounts of beer that would floor normal men of 200 plus pounds weight
