If they want it, let them pay for it. No more subsidies. The "cost" also includes background checks on perverts like Sandusky and Einuis. You don't hear of physics teachers being involved in this kind of crap.

You hear about the music and coaches more because they are outin public much more (like the Ohio State band directory). They get much more play because they have higher profiles, put on performances, and many people know who they are. You won't hear about the classroom physics or the Algebra 1 teacher in the news as much.

This thread is a bucket of dumb.

Football, band, cheerleaders, track, math team, debate team, Latin club, French club, yearbook photos, cafeteria lunches . . .

In addition to the actual classes, all of the above are equally a part of the high school experience.

Actually, the best parts.

Who in their right mind would want to get rid of high school football? And, for that matter, the robotics club?

Also eliminate theatre, "It's Academic", all Honor Societies, and after school clubs. Who needs and/or wants National and National Junior Honor Societies? Only a small percentage of the student body benefits from them. Cut them now. I keep seeing stuff about chess clubs, science fairs, science olympiads, spelling and geography bees. Superfluous fluff. School should only be reading, writing and arithmetic. Nothing else. Well, maybe science.
