Hell they do not even teach cursive anymore, much less Metal shop. There is some castrated Wood Shop that is still going.

My son graduated last year and they did have partial Wood Shop in his Middle School. He made me a nice cutting board and a few other wood things.

I had the most fun in Metal Shop, Electronics and Small Engine repair in Arlington Middle School back in the late 70's, but this is probably all Long Gone. My High School even had a Rifle team and practiced in an area at the school! Not air rifle, 22 rim fire, buddies brought their rifles to school in their cars and carried them in the building after school.

This iPod/iPad generation is so dumbed down it is not even funny. If it is not on Amazon then they thing it does not exist.

wood shop is a hobby and just a place where loser kids go to fuck off and not take real classes. it's fun, but you're not getting anywhere learning to saw and plane shit in school. any real construction job can teach you that in a day or two. no reason to spend a whole school year teaching it.

Easiest class I took in college was an art history course, it was an elective and we mostly learned about ancient architecture design and how it related to the materials, technology, and culture/religions of those eras. It was a great class. The course material wasn't hard, but they did make us write papers that presented logical ideas and didn't use CAPS every three words. For that I am grateful.

I wonder if anyone would go to a woodworking class if I started one during weeknights and weekends? I have every tool anyone would ever need. There are a couple of small companies that let you take classes specific to everyone building the same thing.

The thing about drafting is it's out of date, with old instruments, that is. The computer has progs. that're so easy to use, you don't need to know anything about drafting to use one. They're a lot faster, too. You can't email something drafted onto a huge piece of paper. You can email something done on one of those progs. and the guy who gets it can blow it up on powerpoint or something else similar.

Wood shop, metal shop and home ec would still make sense, but drafting is out of date. Maybe in wood shop or metal shop, they can have 2 or 3 classes where you learn how to use one of the many computer drafting progs. out there.

DAJAX Ya Pal..Accounting is NOT a Easy Class Ill agree with that ..It TOO Is a PROFESSION. ...Since you like CAPS so much..LOL

Liberal Arts Degree..is A "Profession Of Sorts.. "PROFESSIONAL LOAFER" ! LOL!

I took mechanical drawing back in the 70's when I was at Stuart. Not because I was interested in the course, but instead because it was in a classroom that didn't have windows so it had to have air conditioning. One of the few rooms that had AC. Mr. Argentine was the teacher. I have heard he passed from brain cancer. I had him for shop the year before and when he found out I had my license and my own car, I became the kid to do his errands. He gave me passes to get out of class to run to the hardware store, lawn mower shop to pickup his mower, Baileys bakery for those doughnuts he loved. Even one time my car broke down and he let me pull it into the shop and he help me work on it. Plus he gave me straight A's the whole year. Only A I ever got.

....and that's exactly the problem. All these geniuses using a CAD program just pushing buttons like monkeys. They have no idea why a line weight (thickness) is what it is, why it matters.... Most of them can't even copy a hand drawn markup accurately. When people had to actually use a pencil, scale, triangle to draw something they thought a little about it because mistakes were a pain in the ass to fix.

Agree 100% that not everyone needs to go to college, quite the opposite it true in fact. Mike Roe has been preaching this recently, make sense to me.

Lib fags keep letting in illegals, negroids rioting & looting, Islamists blowing up bombs, gooks shooting missiles-you better have some real world skill to build a homestead.

Those curriculae that promote IT???? That shit is already subbed out to India? Pay inbrhat sector will drop 90% within 3 yrs.

The only reason why autonomous vehicles is taking so long, is bc of liberal social architects not having a plan where the most employed people in the world, driver jobs, will be sucked into a black hole n unemployed.

Did Mr Dillard know your name? Bit of comedy for anyone that went to JEB during 70's re the often heard in hallway "I know who you ah!" yelling at some practitioner of mischief attempting to escape & evade. > Mr Argentine = very good teacher along with Clements(electronics & shop) & Mr Mason (Auto shop/small engines/welding)

I remember if you didn't want to go to an assembly or pep rally they were having you could go to the cafeteria. We would then slip out the side doors and head to the back gate and you could squeeze between the gate and fence. I remember one day a bunch of us running for the gate and all we heard was Mr. Dillard yelling, I know who you are, I know who you are, I know your names. We were laughing our asses off as we slip through the fence. He didn't know any of us LOL!
