When did people who ride the metro start using those bags they carry around their waists and backs that they strap on to their shoulders?

When did people who ride the metro start using those bags they carry around their waists and lower backs that they strap on to their shoulders?

When did people who ride the metro start doing that shit?

As recently as the late 1990s you would never see shit like that.

Now everybody has them.

Many people are carrying laptops, which were relatively rare in the 1990s. Now most students, even high school and younger use them, and in many workplaces people are either issued company laptops or are expected to use their own at work. And once you are already carrying a pack for your laptop, it's not a big step to add textbooks, your lunch, a sweater or jacket, an umbrella etc., etc.

Look at all those criminals riding the metro. All working people drive to work of course. Duh. Only criminal black people ride metro. Every good republican knows this, its all discussed at the RNC conferences and CPAC.

You just crawl out of a hole, I rode VRE and Metro regularly for 5 years. Carrying messenger bags and backpacks is a lot easier and safer, I spotted punks stealing stuff from peoples backpacks and yelled at them. I even found my small pocket of my backpack opened a few times but nothing was in it of value. The backpack I have used I am able to use small TSA locks on, this keeps thugs from unzipping the backpack while it's on my back. Thank goodness I don't have to ride metro anymore, saw too much BS.

in the 90s, fool. So were fanny packs, but you don't see them around outside of "family theme parks" n'shit. Backpacks ruled Metro for about a decade, then came the hipster "messenger bag" craze, but that's fading out (want to know how a fad has run out? You'll find high end examples @ TJMax/Marshalls/whatever).
Say, how are those Crocs holding up?
