* NRA came usually with benefits such as a subscription to a hunting magazine (with ads$)
* NRA WAS SUDDENLY CHALLENGED BY A 501C TRYING TO STEAL IT'S BUSINESS BY OFFERING GOVERNMENT BACKED INSURANCE BY A MAGAZINE WHICH WAS BEING PRODUCED BY A "501C" by demcorats
* NRA SUED, SAYING USA BUSINESSES COULD NOT COMPETE AGAINST FEDERALLY FUNDED 501C DESIGNED BY DEMOCRATS TO DESTROY usa businesses one at a time, SAYING "IF THEY CAN BE A 501C SO CAN WE", AND WE'LL WIN ON MERITS. NRA walked out of the lawsuit against the government with both a cash reward and 501c status.

NRA's 501c status has everything to do with DEMOCRATS ATTACKING NRA with fake 501c designed to bankrupt the NRA

NRA had a great business model. They asked a little money for allot of insurance ($20,000) but unlike auto had very few claims. Very small management office. Add a magazine to that (which they didn't make - and such magazine deals were VERY common to many businesses in the 1970's) and you had: A DEAL FEW WOULD REFUSE, and a company walking away with comfortable profit.

what democrats did was to make field and stream publications 501c (ruining the 1/2 of the perceived benefit of subscribing to NRA), and the also a 501c to offer insurance to gun owners (WHICH IS THE OBAMACARE OF GUNS)
