A customer at Advanced Auto Parts, 311 Maple Ave., E., told Vienna police on July 8 at 4:35 p.m. that she and a male customer had become engaged in small talk, but when the small talk changed to an invitation from the man to stay with him at the beach, she began to feel uncomfortable.

The male customer left the area before police arrived, authorities said.

Typical ivory-tower, fearful Vienna woman. The guy probably just tipped his cap to her and said hello, so she fumbles in her purse for her phone to call 911.

Does that Nerdlinger,Erdlinger--whatever her name was--woman shop in Vienna?

She couldn't have been hot. Hot women are hit on all the time and they are used to it. Hot women don't call the police after a schmuck hits on them in a store.

her not wishing a dating offer is whimsy

it's illegal to use armed forces (police) to enforce whimsy

(don't tell misandrous fx co gov that: they think their every whimsy is enforceable)

the girl should exercise caution, all should, but take no action. not wishing to be asked out is whimsy

there is sometiems policy (or wisdom) store employees can't date each other. that certainly doesn't apply to customers

the only thing complainable would be if the person repeatedly (differing days not buying shit) used the fact she had to be their to his advantage. that would be "under-handed" and cause for civil complain - not criminal comaplaint you fucking idiots

Most of us do, but retards like News Patrol are simply spammers who don't really care whether something is off topic or has been posted before.

How is this spamming? It's a new story from Vienna, which is in Fairfax county. Definitely not an "Offtopic". Offtopic is for things unrelated to Fairfax or the other forums.

The fact that the police even showed up for this non-event is evidence that they have WAY too much time on their hands.
The fact that they bothered to write a report about it means their budget should be drastically reduced.
Vienna's Finest? I think not.

It was a young woman calling, police have to show up, at least to see what she looks like.

I am sure that was part of the motivation.

Not true. There is no legal duty for the police to respond to any event. That's been established by the Supreme Court (no less) several times.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_v._District_of_Columbia
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/28/politics/28scotus.html?_r=0

And from a public-interface standpoint, this story the woman tells is so frivolous that only a lazy, under-worked derelict would respond.

On the face of it, the story sounds ridiculous. But women have to rely on their intuition. Clearly, this women felt that she might be in danger upon leaving the store. Hence, the call to the police to protect her. A woman can tell the difference between a harmless flirtation and a threat. I'd give her the benefit of the doubt.

Because there's already two other threads on the subject, three if you count one that lists the Vienna police's weekly crime blotter.

Haha, you are so right!

Vienna police have unlimited funds and time on their hands, so I guess it only makes sense they would send at least a few oinkers down to check out the lady.

VPD is one of the only departments that is lazier and more funded than FCPD, just a thought for everyone to remember.

This is why Vienna taxes are so high.
