A woman was shot and killed Thursday morning in Reston, according to Fairfax County police.
Police say at around 7 a.m., officers responded to the area of Colts Neck Road and Glade Drive after receiving a report about a woman lying on the ground.
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say they were called to the scene just before 7:00 a.m. Thursday for reports of a woman who was shot in the upper body. Multiple shots were reportedly fired into her upper body and she died at the scene.
Authorities closed Colts Neck Road between Glade Drive and Paddock Lane while detectives worked to find out what led to the shooting.

Crime scene is immediately adjacent to Hunters Woods Elementary School and just up a bit from Hunters Woods Shopping center.
