Just Tires/Fairfax

Just Tires in Fairfax broke a piece of my car and they aren't fessing up to it. Where is a good place to buy tires in the Fairfax/Oakton/Vienna area?

I had a similiar problem happen with another company. I called the owner and made my case. They agreed to pay for the damage without any more fuss.

I already called them. They are telling me I will have to pay for the damage because they didn't cause it, but they will be happy to fix it. For a fee.

Ask to speak to the owner.

I believe the actual owner is in Ohio. That is certainly an option.

I already talked to the manager. I am in the process of having this car fixed by a reputable firm. I will then decide my next move. I wouldn't let them fix it for FREE.

I am looking for a new store to purchase tires from in the future. Any recommendations?

I generally shop around and look for the better price. I did okay at Sams Club last year.

Tirerack.com

You can set it up so your tires get sent to a local shop and get mounted and installed at a local Merchant's. Michelins at Costco are priced fairly for great tires.

What did the tire shop break on your car?

A piece needed to align the tires (adjustment sleeve and other part). The mechanic who is fixing it said it most probably could only be broken by overly forcing it to align the tires.

This shop did the last alignment last year. Took it in this year, they said the piece was broken when they looked at it and they couldn't proceed with the alignment. The guy who did the work last year no longer works there.

They are happy to do the repairs but I will have to pay for them. Right. I am outta there.

Any more recommendations?

It could have fallen off while you were driving.

These places are all the same, do the same job for similar prices. The only real difference is the availability of tires. Michelins are the best and will give you the longest life with the least amount of problems.

I know Merchants is running a buy 2 get 2 free right now, but you have to purchase their care package, so it ends up totalling to about the same but you get free service for a couple years.

It is a sleeve, I saw what it is, and I was told it is virtually impossible that it broke any other way than by forcing it when trying to do an alignment, and I believe it.

I need to replace tires on another car and won't go back here.

The problem is not the tires. The problem is the work done on doing the alignment.

I've had several "good" experiences with Merchant's on FFx Blvd there by H-Mart. I put good in quotes because car stuff is always expensive and annoying, but they took care of me when my battery was dead, put me in new tires and alignment at a very competitive price, and so forth. This was all done over the last 8 months and was long ago enough that I'm sure they didn't cause any problems.

Goodyear in Burke is relatively cheap to buy tires. I have bought two sets from them for my car and both times they have been significantly cheaper than everyone else. I use Mr Tire in fairfax station becuase they are inexpensive and fairly honest.

If you need tires, I just got the goodyear eagle all season sport for my 2009 chevy impala SS, 3k miles so far and I love them.

So you don't have any proof other than one other mechanic's opinion. If the store isn't willing to help you out, you're pretty well done here. You could sue, but that's a crapshoot. Now that you've had it fixed elsewhere, they can't help you out: they might have been willing/able to cut you some slack on parts profit and/or labor, but you've removed that option.

Customer service and satisfaction has gone the way of the Dodo Bird. It's probably a relatively inexpensive repair but they choose to be dicks about it.

Used to buy all my tires at Just Tires. Salesguy there was Sparky, who knew tires, how to sell tires, was honest, and did the little extras to keep me coming back.

We used to joke about the manager in the office who was all about numbers and reports and knew nothing about customer service.

Sparky retired a few years ago. Other sales guys were not the same.

I now go to Costco. Never disappointed.

What did just tires "break"... or are you just another guy who does not maintain his vehicle and looking for blame on repairs?? Chime in on your case and explain??
