Chicago Violence: 104 Shot, 14 Fatally, in Deadly Father's Day Weekend Across the City

Chicago police say that 14 people, including a 3-year-old boy and multiple teenagers, were killed and at least 90 others have been wounded in shootings across the city over the course of a violent and deadly weekend.

The fatal shootings of the weekend occurred as follows, according to police:

At approximately 9:52 p.m. Friday, a group was standing outside in the 4800 block of West Gladys in the Austin neighborhood when a car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking three men. A 34-year-old man was shot in the neck and taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 43-year-old man was shot in the lower back and took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition. A 34-year-old man was shot in the foot and remains in stable condition at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
At around 10:24 p.m. Friday, a 32-year-old man was shot multiple times inside his vehicle in the 4100 block of West Congress Parkway in the Garfield Park neighborhood. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he later died, authorities said.
On Saturday evening, a 3-year-old was shot and killed while riding in a vehicle in the Austin neighborhood on the city's West Side, police officials said. The shooting was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of North Central Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. A 27-year-old man told police he was driving southbound on Central Avenue when an unknown occupant inside of a blue Honda fired shots, striking him and his 3-year-old male passenger.The young child sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park where he was pronounced dead.
Just over an hour later, also in Austin, a 27-year-old male was shot and killed at approximately 7:46 p.m. in the 200 block of North Central Avenue, police officials said. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the torso and was transported to West Suburban Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. A second male victim, 32 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot and was said to be in good condition at the hospital.
At approximately 6:58 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of North Western Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood, one man was shot and killed and another was injured following an argument with a group of individuals, police said. A 23-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead on scene. The second victim, a 24-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and went to Saint Mary's Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Two teens were fatally shot at around 5:10 p.m. on Saturday in an alley in the 7900 block of South Luella in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said. The 17-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to the back, chest and left hand, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced. The 16-year-old male victim also died at the hospital.
A 13-year-old girl was killed while inside a home in a shooting that left two other teens wounded in the Austin neighborhood Saturday evening, according to police. At around 8:36 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Leclaire, two male teenagers were sitting on a porch when police said one noticed a red laser pointed at him and heard multiple gunshots. The 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg and the 15-year-old boy was shot in the lower back, officials said. Both were taken to Mount Sinai in good condition. A 13-year-old girl who was inside the resident at the time was shot in the right side of her neck and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she died early Sunday, authorities said.
In the 2600 block of West Potomac in West Town at approximately 12:04 a.m. Sunday, a group of men were in a verbal altercation with another group when someone began firing shots, police said. A 41-year-old man was shot multiple times throughout the body and pronounced dead at the scene. A 23-year-old man was shot in the left knee and hip as a 21-year-old man was shot in each leg. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A 34-year-old man was shot in the same scene in his legs and arms, then taken to Mount Sinai hospital where he has been released.
At approximately 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the 6200 block of North Troy, a man was shot and killed when an unknown suspect approached him and fired shots, police stated. The victim was taken to AMITA Health Saint Francis Hospital Evanston where he was pronounced dead.
Two teenage boys were shot, one fatally, at around 12:18 a.m. Monday, according to police. The two were walking in an alley in the 4700 block of West Superior when someone inside a vehicle, possibly a gray sedan, opened fire. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg, chest and abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the ankle and taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition, officials said.
At around 4:26 a.m. Monday, a 41-year-old man was on the street in the 3800 block of West Harrison when an unknown assailant shot him in the face, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he died at around 5:21 a.m., officials said. A person of interest was taken into custody for questioning after being identified as the possible offender by individuals near the scene, according to police.
A 30-year-old man was walking in the 100 block of South Washtenaw at around 4:18 a.m. when someone in the alley opened fire. He was shot in the neck and taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
At around 6:45 a.m., a 24-year-old man was dropped off at Mount Sinai by an unknown person, according to police. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper right chest and was pronounced dead, officials say.

Unless otherwise noted, no one is in custody in connection with the weekend's shootings as police continue to investigate.

The rest of this weekend’s shootings occurred as follows, according to police:
Friday –

In the 7400 block of South Phillips, several people within a vehicle pulled up and shot a 35-year-old woman in the arm around 6:30 p.m. The woman was taken to the University of Chicago hospital in stable condition.
After a verbal altercation, police said a 28-year-old man was shot by another man in the shoulder in the 5400 block of South Loomis at approximately 10:56 p.m. He was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
At approximately 11 p.m. in the 3400 block of West 23rd Avenue, two men were in a verbal dispute with another man. The man shot the 22-year-old man in the lower back and the 41-year-old man in the hand and leg. Both were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
In the 7600 block of South Coles at approximately 11:14 p.m., a 20-year-old man was walking to his car when an unknown man pulled up in a grey Jeep and fired shots grazing the man's chest. He was transported to South Shore Hospital in fair condition.
A 30-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were both injured in a shooting at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Waller, police said. The male victim was standing next to his car when an unknown occupant inside of a passing vehicle fired shots, striking him in boths legs. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The female victim suffered a graze wound.
At approximately 9:19 p.m., a 47-year-old man was urinating on the street in the 1300 block of North California Avenue when he realized he was shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The man said he did not see or hear anyone shoot.

Saturday –

In the 700 block of South Loomis, a 17-year-old man was driving when a gold sedan approached at approximately 12:45 a.m. The man felt pain and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition with a gunshot graze to the left side rib cage.
A 64-year-old woman was inside her residence in the 1000 block of North Lawndale when she was shot in the arm through her window at approximately 12:49 a.m. She was transported to Norwegian Hospital in fair condition.
At approximately 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Troy, a 49-year-old woman was driving when an unknown man pulled up directly in front of her. Police said the woman exited her vehicle to approach the driver and tell him to move when the man fires two shots at the ground. The woman was shot in the right foot and drove herself to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
In the 7400 block of South Wentworth, a 28-year-old man was shot in the chest, neck and body while standing outside at around 2:07 a.m. The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
At approximately 2:42 a.m. in the 11700 block of South Union, a 27-year-old man and a 48-year-old man were shot by an unknown person driving a silver sedan. Both were shot in the legs and transported to Christ Hospital in fair condition.
A 24-year-old man was at a party in the 2700 block of North Pine Grove Avenue when an unknown man shot him in the cheek, right arm and right leg at around 2:26 a.m. He took himself to St. Joseph Hospital in good condition.
In the 2200 block of South Lawndale at approximately 2:55 a.m., a 22-year-old man was walking down the street when three men exited a small SUV and one of them fired shots. The man was shot in the leg and brought to Saint Anthony Hospital then transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.
A 25-year-old man was walking in the 7300 block of South Paulina at approximately 2:59 a.m. when an unknown man in a white car pulled up and shot him in the hand. Police said the man was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.
At approximately 3:33 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Ferrar Drive, officers found a 43-year-old man unresponsive after reports of shots being fired. The man was shot in the neck, upper thigh and back, then taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
In the 1000 block of West 58th Street at approximately 3:20 a.m., a 26-year-old man was standing on the street when a black SUV pulled up and a man inside shot him. The man was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
In the 11300 block of South Michigan Avenue at approximately 4:11 a.m., a 24-year-old male told police he was outside in a group when an unknown male approached and fired shots, striking him in the shoulder. He self-transported to Roseland Hospital and was listed in fair condition.
An 18-year-old male was shot at approximately 4:48 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Avers, police said. The victim was dropped off at Northwestern Hospital and listed in critical condition.
At approximately 6:10 a.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder while driving in the 8700 block of South Halsted. He heard gunshots and suddenly felt pain, and then was taken to Roseland Hospital in fair condition.
In the 2800 block of St. Louis at approximately 6:15 a.m., a 29-year-old man was walking down an alley and was shot in the head and leg. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
A 20-year-old man was riding a bicycle at approximately 3:47 p.m. in the 12400 block of South Michigan Avenue when someone fired shots, striking him, police stated. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and listed in stable condition.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of West 95th Street, a 21-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the right shoulder, police said. The victim self-transported to Saint Bernard Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
In the 3500 block of South California at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 32-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and left arm, according to police. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
A 32-year-old male was shot while standing outside at approximately 8 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Francisco, Chicago police said. The victim was struck twice in the shoulder and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in fair condition.
In the 2700 block of West Division at approximately 8:37 p.m., a 37-year-old woman heard shots and felt sudden pain while in a car. She was shot in the stomach and taken to St. Mary's Hospital.
A 26-year-old man was sitting on his porch around 8:40 in the 11200 block of South Hermosa Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain. He was shot in the right buttocks and taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition.
In the 2500 block of West Augusta at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 45-year-old man was standing outside when an unknown person in a car shot him in the arm. He was taken to Norwegian Hospital in fair condition.
At approximately 11:02 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Whipple, a 23-year-old man was sitting on in front of a house when an unknown person inside a dark SUV pulled up and shot him in the arm, while also grazing his head. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
In the 2300 block of N. Lake Shore Drive at approximately 11:49 p.m., a 21-year-old man was in the backseat of a car when an man in a dark Honda Pilot shot him in the neck. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Sunday –

In the 3700 block of West Hirsch at approximately 12:36 a.m., a man approached a car and stated shooting as the vehicle drove way, striking multiple parked cars. Four people exited the car and a 17-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and transported to Stroger Hospital in fair condition.
At approximately 12:57 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Division, a 32-year-old man was standing outside when he heard shots and felt pain, suffering a gunshot to the arm and a graze wound to the neck. He took himself to Norwegian Hospital in fair condition.
A 39-year-old man was sitting on the porch in the 600 block of East 44th Street when a vehicle drove up around 2:12 a.m., shooting him in the left leg. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
At approximately 3:36 a.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 800 block of West 72nd Street, discovering a 40-year-old man shot in the lower back. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
After a verbal altercation, police said that in the 12700 block of South Lowe at approximately 3:15 a.m., a 28-year-old woman was shot in the head during a gathering. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.
In the 5500 block of North Harlem at approximately 3:39 a.m., two men were shot after a verbal altercation in a parking lot, police said. A 21-year-old man was shot in the hip and a 28-year-old man was shot in the arm and hip. Both were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in fair condition.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was on the street in the 200 block of North Kolin when a white SUV pulled up and several men exited the vehicle. They began shooting toward the woman, hitting her in the hip. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
In the 11500 block of South Church Street at approximately 5:20 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the thigh while seated in the backseat of a car by someone in another vehicle. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition.
A 56-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg at approximately 3:35 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Adams, according to police. The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The individual was walking back to his vehicle when he heard shots and felt pain, police stated.
In the 2600 block of South Ridgeway at approximately 2:10 p.m., a 26-year-old male was traveling in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up and someone fired shots, police said. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of the head and was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in good condition.
At approximately 5:17 p.m. in the 5500 block South Fairfield Avenue, a 40-year-old male victim was shot during an argument with an unknown offender in an alley, police said. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
Two people sustained gunshot wounds at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Springfield, police said. The victims were on foot when they discovered they'd been shot, according to police. The first victim, a man of unknown age, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. The second victim, a 24-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm and stomach and was also transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
In the 7100 block of South State Street at approximately 6 p.m., a 20-year-old man was on the sidewalk when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right foot and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was reported to be in good condition.
At around 9:50 p.m., a group of people was standing in the street in the 600 block of East 90th Place when someone inside a black vehicle opened fire, striking two people including a child. A 12-year-old girl suffered a graze wound to the leg and was taken to Trinity Hospital in good condition, while a 21-year-old man was shot in the hip and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.
At around 11:33 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking in the 6600 block of South Cottage Grove when he was shot in the lower backside. He told police he saw two groups firing at each other and he was caught in the crossfire. He was taken to Provident in good condition.
At around 10:50 p.m., a 45-year-old man was outside in the 7300 block of South Laflin when he heard shots and felt pain. He was shot in the leg and took himself to St. Bernard. He was transferred to Mount Sinai and was in fair condition, police said.
Three people were shot at around 9:57 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Champlain. A 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were walking into a residential building when someone on foot opened fire. The woman was shot in the pelvic area and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition. The man was shot in the abdomen but refused medical treatment, according to police. And a 36-year-old man was shot multiple times in the torso and was in critical condition at the University of Chicago Hospital.

Monday –

At around 12:55 a.m., a 61-year-old man was sitting on the front porch of a home in the 1500 block of South Sawyer when he heard shots and felt pain. He was shot in the leg and told police he didn't see the offender or know where the shots came from. He was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
Two men were outside in the 11800 block of South Emerald at around 12:22 a.m. when they were shot from either a vehicle or a group standing on the next block, police say. A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Roseland, while a 25-year-old man was shot in the neck and taken to Christ Hospital, both in good condition.
At around 12:35 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was driving in the 5100 block of South Calumet when she heard shots and felt pain. She was shot in the shoulder and took herself to University of Chicago Hospital where she was listed in good condition. She told police she did not see the offender but saw two cars appearing to chase each other before she was shot.
At around 12 a.m., a 29-year-old man was outside at a gathering in the 800 block of North Cambridge when he was shot in the leg. Police said he was not cooperating with officers and would not provide further information on the incident. He was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
A 27-year-old man was walking in the 5600 block of West Roosevelt at around 2 a.m. when he heard shots and felt pain. He was shot in the leg and took himself to Rush in Oak Park where he was in good condition.
At around 12:33 a.m., two men were shot in the 4700 block of West Erie, according to police. A 34-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and taken to Mount Sinai in fair condition, while a 36-year-old man was shot in the chest, back and hand and took himself to Norwegian Hospital. He was transferred to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
At around 12:52 a.m., four people were shot in the 5200 block of South Lowe. Three men were outside at a large gathering in the street when someone inside a vehicle opened fire. A 27-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and was in critical condition at the University of Chicago Hospital. A 30-year-old man was shot in the foot and was in good condition at the University of Chicago Hospital. A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and was in good condition at Northwestern. Police later said a 21-year-old woman was shot in the leg and took herself to University of Chicago Hospital where she was listed in good condition.
At around 2:07 a.m., three men were outside at a large gathering in the 7000 block of South Bishop when they heard shots and felt pain. A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm and leg, a 26-year-old man was shot in the hip and a 30-year-old man was shot in the back. All three took themselves to Holy Cross Hospital and were listed in fair condition.
Five people were shot at around 2:45 a.m. in the 200 block of South Central Park, according to police. They were at a large gathering on the street when someone opened fire from a passing vehicle, officials said. A 16-year-old girl was shot in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 24-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 32-year-old man was shot in the arm, both in good condition at Stroger. Two men, ages 30 and 31, were both shot in the leg and took themselves to Mount Sinai where they were listed in good condition.
At around 3:50 a.m., two men were traveling in a vehicle in the 5400 block of West Gladys when someone in another car pulled up behind them and opened fire, striking them both. A 23-year-old man was shot in the hand and a 24-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. They took themselves to Loretto Hospital where they were both listed in good condition.
At around 2:30 a.m., a 24-year-old man was standing in front of his house in the 900 block of North Karlov when police said he was informed that there was a shootout going on five houses down. Authorities said he was "gathering up kids on the street to get them to safety" when he realized he had been shot in the left hand. He was taken to Norwegian Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
At around 4:45 a.m. in 5900 block of South State Street, a 27-year-old man was shot twice in his left thigh. He was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, according to police, who said he was not cooperating with officers.
At around 3:15 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of South California, according to police. He was dropped off at Mount Sinai with a gunshot wound to the right leg, officials said. He was in good condition and expected to be released Monday. Police said he was not cooperating with officers.
A 25-year-old man was at a party in the 1300 block of South Central Park when he heard shots just before 1 a.m. and ran home. When he woke up Monday morning, according to police, he realized he had been shot in the buttocks. He was taken to Mount Sinai, where he was in stable condition.
