When a thousand applications of current FCPD officers apply for the FCFD in short time that will shake and wake some people up to the facts that FCPD had nothing to do with what happened in Minnesota . And it will not happen here in Fairfax County as well as the fact the citizens of Fairfax need their FCPD officers .

The downside is that a few lucky officers will get in to the FCFD, and then they will enjoy the 24 hour shifts and move to bigger pastures farther from Fairfax when life is not so hectic or expensive as they will commute not after typical 10 hour shifts with roll calls but only every 24 hours

Additionally offers should note that they want to be cross trained so some day Fairfax might create a needed New York City style Special Operations " Emergency Services Unit" ESU for short that uses heavy trucks as patrol vehicles packed with police equipment to handle mass shootings snipers bomb threats the works as well as all types of heavy rescue firefighting equipment such as jaws of life and air bags to extract people from mass transit and truck/car wrecks, ropes and get to get people trapped in elevators on tower cranes bridges and other difficult situations as well as responding to fires and being able to rapidly assist at emergency scenes as a police officer firefighter or EMT when manpower is needed badly

New York City's ESU officers are cross trained and sworn as police officers firefighters and EMT's they are the police equivalent of US Navy Seals to the military . Such a unit of 50 to 100 officers would be a valuable life saving asset to the people of Fairfax County
