George Mason U. elects man as homecoming queen

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University students have elected a drag queen as homecoming queen.
Student Ryan Allen beat out two women for the title at the small school in suburban Washington, D.C., famous for its run to the Final Four a few years back.
Allen competed under his drag queen persona of Reann Ballslee.
Allen, who is gay and performs in drag at nightclubs, said he entered as a joke. But he considers the victory one of his happiest moments and proof the school celebrates its diverse student body.
The senior from Virginia's Goochland County won the pageant about a week ago at a sold-out homecoming basketball game against Northeastern. George Mason's basketball team pulled off a string of upsets to advance to the Final Four in 2006.

What else would you expect from a joke of a university?

I didn't know college universities even have Homecoming Queens? I thought that was only in High school?
Who gives a shit anyway? No one is effected by this in any way except the dude that won.

Pageants in general are ridiculous. Do any young girls actually look up to Miss America or Miss Universe as a guiding light? A lot of people believe that they're supposed to solve all the worlds problems and live some holy lifestyle. The reality is, most pageant winners are as stupid and soulless as Miss South Carolina.

I seriously doubt the GMU student body voted for this shim to celebrate the diversity of the student body. It would have been worth the price of admission to the game just to see the reaction of the runners up.

I was at the game and thought it was just a joke halftime skit. Absolutely ridiculous that it is getting National coverage. The whole "crowning" process took 90 seconds. Maybe the voting process is what has some students upset. I really thought he was a girl. We debated it because "she" acted like a characature of a beauty queen, but "her" legs and arms were so skinny that I was insistent it was a female.

GMU should just admit most of its student are gay and news media would leave them alone.

Now everyone will remember 2009 as the year demokrats took back the White House and when demokrat-kontrolled GMU elected their first homosexual homecoming queen. The jeering from opposing fans of all their sports teams will be interesting for a few years to come.

Other than basketball, how many "opposing fans" do you think attend any GMU sporting events?

And I'm sure the "jeering" will really affect the outcome of any b-ball games.

this country is going to hell.
i dont know if i'm more horrified at the fact that a homosexual/transvestite won.
or that a grown up school is even having a contest like this.
