Change elections to weekends

Both parties claim to be disappointed by the chronically low voter turnout, then continue to hold elections during business hours on a weekday. If they truly wanted people to vote, elections would be held for six or eight hours on Saturdays, AND for six or eight hours the next day, sunday, for the many people who work on Saturdays.

You're making too much sense and our political system does not allow us to accommodate for things like logic. For examples of this, see the electoral college and the Iowa Caucaucus and New Hampshire Primary.

Virginia just added election day as a paid holiday for all state and municipal employees. That should bring in extra votes for the democrats.
