When adults abuse children at school, the children get older they reenact this same or similar criminal abusive conduct on others and go to jail for it.

FCPS is Literally teaching these children that are being abuse how to be criminals. FCPS is alse teaching the children that atre observice the Abuse to be criminals.

This is how the School to Prison Pipeline works.

To the Parents of these child abuse victims: Please sue FCPS if their employees are guilty of this crime. Put FCPS on notice now so they dont accidentally discard evidence. Don't believe the BS written at https://www.fcps.edu/news/fcps-statement-freedom-hill-elementary-school

As Always These people are innocent until proven guilty.

I knew someone who worked under him and word was he is a really arrogant prick. Massive liberal and very biased. Allegedly was really angry when Hillary lost and hates white people, even though he's pretty white himself. Sorry that he hurt kids.

To the Parents of the child abuse victims:

Link below has some proof that FCPS knew about some of Principal Scott Bloom's improper conduct in 2017. If FCPS got rid of him then, he would not have been around your child this year.

Im surprised a good with a gun didn’t jump out and protect these kids.

It’s too bad the libtards banned kids from taking guns to school so at least they could’ve stood their ground.

Dear FCPS Families,

You may be hearing news reports about FCPS employees who now face charges in connection with allegations of child abuse and failure to properly report the abuse in a timely manner as required under the law.

Our leadership was made aware of these allegations in September and we took immediate steps to address the situation, including:

Staff members under investigation were immediately removed from the school and placed on leave for the duration of the investigation. FCPS immediately began an administrative investigation concurrently with the police investigation.
Experienced special education teachers were assigned to the impacted classroom to provide support and instruction to the students.
Families were contacted regarding the staffing changes and additional supports, including social work staff, will continue to be made available for students and staff.
Two of the employees are no longer with FCPS and the third remains on leave.

Our teachers and staff have been trained in best practices and in legal requirements regarding mandated reporting of suspected abuse. We are in the process of updating the policy and regulation that covers the procedures for reporting cases of suspected child abuse or neglect, to ensure that all of us fully understand our reporting obligations.

In addition, two classroom teachers at other schools are facing criminal charges in connection with recent allegations of sexual misconduct involving students as the victims. Both individuals were immediately suspended from their classroom assignments once charges were announced. The allegations are disturbing and betray the moral and legal responsibility we have to protect our students.

The responsibility to protect students from sexual misconduct and abuse of any type is shared by the School Board and by my office. We have a regulation in place that establishes procedures regarding the prevention of sexual misconduct and abuse and outlines clear and reasonable boundaries for interactions between students and employees.

Employees must ensure that their conduct is professional and proper given the context of each situation and that reasonable boundaries are maintained when interacting with students. Any violation of the regulation will be dealt with accordingly and could also lead to criminal charges.

We are saddened and distressed by these recent allegations against our employees. I want to apologize to the students and families impacted by these events. There is no greater responsibility of a school system than the safety and well-being of our students and, as a result of these recent incidents, we have learned that we need to do more.

We must do everything in our power to protect the children in our care every day. There are no exceptions, and there are no excuses. We will continue to work to ensure that our students are learning in a safe environment where they trust the teachers and the staff who serve them.

Thank you very much.

I think the law requires a report of suspected abuse be made within 24 hours of the incident.

A grievance filed this fall by the Northampton Association of School Employees reveals that recent district budget cuts have led directly to injuries and concussions among teachers and students. Last year the Northampton School Committee put in place what it calls a “full-inclusion model” for students—a euphemism for cutting special support for students with major behavioral and learning challenges. These “special needs” students instead were thrown into regular classrooms, without increased staffing to help teachers manage the inevitable difficulties.

The changes, rammed through this past year against dire warnings from staff at the small west Massachusetts school, included the elimination of 19 educational support positions, and the addition of only five fulltime special education teachers, along with one general education teacher.

According to the local Daily Hampshire Gazette, the grievance documents reveal “understaffed classrooms, chaotic hallways, injuries and constant stress for teachers and students… problems exist at every grade level in the school; unsafe workplace conditions [attributed] to a lack of adequate staffing.”

Specific problems identified in the grievance include students being sent back to class before they have been “fully de-escalated,” teachers being left alone to “de-escalate students who are physically aggressive,” and “restricted access to bathrooms and hallways, and classrooms being held in place because of students in distress throughout the day.”

Thats a different situation the teachers that got in trouble werent in regular classes they were in special needs classes and hurt the kids they should be helping. The teachers were abusive and there isnt any excuse for it. The kids werent acting out and accidentally got hurt when teachers were calming them down, they were taken advantage of.

and the penalty to the misdemeanor is $500 for first offense. I'm sure he will get a plea deal and a slap on the wrist. Will some desk job for FCPS because its what they do.

Ye seems like a Bogus charge against the principal. I rarely hear of mandatory reporters like principal or teachers going to jail for failure to report child abuse.

Define “abuse”. Is it abuse to spit in someone’s face? Is it abuse to bite, hit or pull hair? Is it abusive to scream uncontrollably and have a fit until you get what you want? FCPS tolerates the abuse of the lowest paid staff (babysitters for the special needs students) on a daily basis.

The fault is on FCPS for misinterpreting their legal responsibility to babysit students who are unable to control their anti social and abusive behavior; and to assign the least educated and lowest paid to manage.

Negligence on our schools for subjecting our education system with the task of achieving unreasonable and unattainable goals. Special education? Yes. SE for everyone? No. Students should be required to behave in a safe and civil manner towards others or show evidence of their ability to learn such behavior.

It is wrong to accept any and every type of hostile, disruptive and abusive behavior under some false interpretation of the law that ‘every student has a right to public education”. Every student who can behave in a non-violent, civil manner towards others, maybe.

When I look at the issue, the non reporting of the abuse. Is this man so far out in left field he just did not respond? OR did those two staff members have something on him?

Was Bloom an abuser as well? From what I know of Bloom he is arrogant, thrives when speaking in a staff meeting. When speaking to a staff member one on one he is often rude and degrading. That speaks volumes about a personality issue.

My child attended his school and I had to meet with him over an issue. My son was in the wrong, but the way it way laid out you would have thought my son’s next step was juve over a pushing incident.

A couple of staff members saw me later and talked to me about Bloom and how he acted and told me they would talk to my son so he had an outlet if anything was going on. I definitely did not want him seeing that principle again.
