Any good record stores in Fairfax?

I'm tired of going to the FYE in Fair Oaks to buy CDs. I can't seem to find anywhere that carries anything kinda off-the-radar, anybody know of any good ones?

I will mention "record and tape traders" but I will not endorse them.

tower (fairfax towne centre) always carries a surprising number of not-so-hot CDs.

RESton Peace mentioned some of the record and tape exchanges around here... the only one i know of is on the opposite side of fair city mall - main st. and pickett. next to popeyes / eb games. it's ok.

I unloaded and bought LOTS of stuff at the Record and Tape Exchange at the fair city place years ago. They are still there? I thought those used places would go away with Amazon Marketplace.

the CD cellar in old town falls church. They have a LOT of good stuff. Used to be really good prices but they are starting to jack them up a bit too high.

Record Convergence was very cool... guys there were always nice and I was sad to see it go. This is the shop that used to be by the old Best, which is now an Office Depot. Also across from where Penguin Feather used to be, if anyone here goes back that far. MIDNIGHT MADNESS!

yeah REcord Convergence was awesome. MIDNIGHT MADNESS across from Dunkin Donuts baby YEAH on main street. Also PnL in Vienna. not sure if they are still around either. There are also a BUNCH of places in old towne alexandria along uh Duke street I think its called. My Girlfriend drags me into antique shops and i find whole HORDES of records. Also there are thrift stores in Fairfax city just after old town called yesterdats rose and the other place by fairfax cirlce jerk next to the giant Korean place and the home depot.

Of course I'm reading all of this and then it dawns on me that I haven't stepped foot inside a record/CD store for months. Probably because I buy off Amazon Marketplace all the time.

I got my own vinyl-pressing machine, so now I can make LP's out of my mp3 collection. No more music stores for me!

No, what you mistook for a baby unicorn was what's between him and his back street boys record playing on the turntable.

Dont Forget Dischord Records. I mean sure Ian Mackaye will personally invite you into dischord house and give you lemonaide and brochures on domestic abuse. then shave your head bald and Lick it clean for you before sending you on your way with tons of crap Punk singles like Q and Not U or state of alert.

unicorn... is that what they call those in slang terms? If not, it's a pretty good name. Big horse-sized machine with a big horn looking thing attached.

I sure do miss Tower Records. The one in Tyson's was the best.

The one near gamestop and Trader Joes on the corner of pickett and 236. It gets dusty, and moldy smell in there, but they have TONS of great records and cds. They have them for cheap, and they have a billboard to post stuff up, and they have free flyers. They also have dvd's and vhs stuff

I don't know if they buy or trade with you.

Yes, they are still there. I don't care what anyone says I suspect they deal in more than music and video games which is why they are still there (my bro used to frequent them often and stopped when he went to rehab).
