An off-duty City of Fairfax Police officer was arrested at the Hollywood Casino in Charlestown, West Virginia early Saturday and charged with being drunk in public and obstructing an officer.

Detective Andrew Diaz, a seven-year veteran of the department, was arrested by the West Virginia State Police, according to a statement from the City of Fairfax Police.

Diaz has been placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an internal investigation.

I thought police officers lived their lives like boy scouts off duty?

You have to be an Olympic-grade raging asshole cop to get arrested by another cop, with their "professional courtesy" to other cops bullshit.

I'd like to see how many citizen complaints this Fairfax City cop has racked up.

HE may have gotten a break already by not being charged with assault or something worse.

How did he get hired in the first place? "Diaz" sounds like a Spanish name, which indicates that he is more likely to be a criminal than a cop!

There are at least two Fairfax City cops that should not be wearing badges. They have problems on their force.

Would the other one be the officer who left his car and equipment at home with his drug addict son who took it for a joyride, while the officer was on vacation?

Just wait until Virginia police departments get liaison units like the DC police have. Latino Liaison Unit, Gay and Lesbian Liaison, Asian Liaison, etc.

Because it's news. Also very troubling that an officer would be getting drunk and interferring with a West VA police officer. I sure would love to know more.

This doesn't bother me at all. He was off-duty, anyway.

What bothers me are the crimes committed by police while they are on duty.

The County does but it is not advertised. How do you think the Asians get hired...or promoted....

I met this cop at my gym. Some Asian guy collapsed and Diaz did CPR and shocked the dude until paramedics came. Seems like a good guy IMO

There is no such thing as Professional Courtesy" in Law Enforcement anymore. It is all politics now. Each jurisdiction and each officer are out for themselves. It makes them look good to lock up a cop. That is what Prince William County Police are known for now. Little investigation to prove or disprove an allegation. But an arrest will give them fame. If it turns out to be a false arrest, they don't care since they already got the fame. But the officer's name was dragged through mud. So for those to say police beat the charges, a lot of the time the charges should never have been placed in the first place. NOT saying that this is the case here.

I wouldn't say that exactly. If you're breaking the law you get charged, it's that simple. Cops breaking the law are no different.

Charged means probable cause in the arresting officer's eyes. It does not mean guilty or that he actually did anything wrong. That is for the courts to decide. We all know there are shady cops out there on both ends.

Charged means arrested and charges filed. Not a good thing for that Fairfax cop, he must have been doing something very shady.

Wouldn't be surprised....if someone can commit unlawful entry, have special "relations" with citizens all while on duty and hope to become chief anything is possible

Or put a gun to your head in roll call and threaten to pull the trigger because you don't want to work the hospital, you can possibly get promoted to Deputy Police Chief.

Or cheat on a Sergeant's exam because the person you were dating took the exam earlier, you can also possibly get promoted to Deputy Police Chief.

Many more examples...........SAD

If you have really bad judgement and can't tell when someone is a liar, you can be a Lt .for the city. If you hate women, you will fit in and maybe promoted. You can dodat and laugh!
