Making a thread that's just a link is a dick move.

Well that's pretty hateful and mean to the environment.

I love how they announce this retroactive to October 1 on October 2. I'd like a bit of heads up. My recycling cart already had glass in it for my next recycling day.

Are the purple bins going to be as successful as the recycling bins that were at the parks and recreation centers? The bins that were removed when people started leaving furniture and electronics in and outside of the bins.

Those were brilliant! I remember going to the recycling area at Blake Lane park and not being able to get anywhere near the glass recycling dumpster because of the hundreds of bees it attracted. And they had those little portholes (one for clear, one for brown, one for green) so you had to actually feed in bottles one at a time.

I was in the lot one day when they came for the purple bins. It was a trash truck and they dumped it with all the other shit that was lying around. I know you people like to feel good about this, but the county is pitching the stuff.

At some point in the future I imagine they will find a way to fine you. This article is rather old, but relevant.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

OK, but whadda' you do if you don't generate anything recyclable? You eat out all the time, drink in bars and come home only to sleep, wake up & go to your job?

Nobody reads newspapers anymore, so you don't have those. If you have all your mail go to a PO box, you don't even have advertising newsprint. So what are you supposed to do?

The Chinese are cutting back their recycling of trash. Recycling in this country was doing well as long as they were getting paid. Now there is no one left to do all the dirty work cheaply, so recycling is going away.

the website is totally nigered

they put up the propaganda that they are not "recycling for cullet" years ago: what you are seeing is a "re-announcement"

meanwhile, in Michigan, you can still demand your $0.05 cents per bottle refund

See, that's the problem with a great deal of Americans...thinking there is a "they" separate from "the citizenry".

People need to realize they are one and the same.

If they are going to rely only on the Internet and social media for the communication to happen, there is not going to be full compliance. Many older folks are not techy and barely use a computer and then there is the population of dozens of languages in Fairfax.

NOTICE: Please take all your glass recycling to Trump National Golf Course and dump it in the lobby.

All the useless rejected trash from Fairfax ends up in Loudon County anyway because we don't want it here.

Trump loves trash. Look at his wives, his kids, and everyone in his administration - all trash.

Trump and TRASH are indeed synonymous. But single-stream recycling isn’t going to work anymore.

I like to throw bottles in the street. The broken glass is good for my tire store.

Just got email from HOA about recycling:

Effective immediately, Fairfax County will no longer accept glass containers in curbside recycling. Below is a link that provides the official release from Fairfax County. Attached is a list of locations that are accepting glass containers. Fortunately, there is a glass collection container located close by at Providence Community Center.

Learned all I need to know about Fairfax County and recycling having lunch one day at the McDonald's at Fullerton Rd & Rolling Road... Dumpster dump truck pulls up to the trash dumpster and dumps it into the truck. Then, the truck driver maneuvers the truck and empties the "RECYCLE ONLY" dumpster into the same part of the truck!

Recycling... at it's best, it's another feel-good liberal scam...

Why does anyone “recycle” grass anyway? Do most people with lawns with lots of grass area not also have a 3x3 ft area they can dump it? Never recycled any clippings or leaves in my life.
