The Country Club of Fairfax (CCF) is an excellent club located on 123 not too far from GMU.
Most members are not pretentious, holier than thou, silver spoon in their mouth, jerks. It's more of a low-key, congenial, family oriented environment and atmosphere.
The membership is largely comprised of humble, self-made folks who have done well in life by earning it the hard way, and who love to play and have a good time. Members become friends quite quickly and the friendships extend to things outside the club - business, other sports, dining out, going to the theater, hunting, fishing, trips, and vacations.
The club has undergone an extensive wave of significant infrastructure improvements over the past decade to include a new pool and pool house, new work out facilities, tennis courts, parking garage, etc. etc. So the facilities are very modern and you won't be facing any huge assessments for quite some time.
The Golf facilities, course, personnel, and grounds care are all top notch and excellent. The course is challenging and true. Your handicap will hold up on any other course in the world. There are plenty of opportunities to participate in match and tournament play. And, the golfers are the kind of people you enjoy being around.
And unlike every other club in the area - CCF has a Men's Grille - as in Men Only. This makes for a very brotherly, close atmosphere and various groups meet there daily for lunch or a beer throughout the week.
At CCF I feel guilty sometimes - having such a great time hanging out with the boys and playing golf. It's like I'm a kid again, skipping school with all my best friends, and we have our own huge playground.
CCF entrance fees and dues are very competitive with the other clubs in the area and yes CCF is competitive on the various introductory deals.
Keep in mind though, what's truly important in a club is the members, the culture, and the atmosphere.
