Family Pet Dies in Early-Morning Fairfax County House Fire
An electrical anomaly in the electrical power feed into the home caused the fire.

A dog died in an early morning house fire in Fairfax County Tuesday, according to fire officials.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Tuesday at approximately 3 a.m., in the Franconia area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at on Hopark Drive.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire on the roof of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes.
Sounding smoke alarms provided early warning for the lone occupant; however, a dog perished in the fire. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupant. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was accidental.
