Bad Axe Throwing is open from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. daily, but you have to book an axe throwing session to use their lanes. A base session gives you access to two reserved targets for two hours with an axe throwing coach. There's a minimum of six people for this option.

Walk-ins times are based on availability and do not come with an axe throwing coach. A grand opening event on Sept. 6-8 will allow guests to try for free.

There isn't an age restriction (aside from the Chicago location), but kids can only participate if staff determines they're strong enough to safely throw. Block says it's rare for someone below 10 to participate.

Bax Axe Throwing can be used for events such as birthday parties, corporate events and bachelor and bachelorette parties. If there's enough interest, the location will form regional axe throwing leagues with potential to compete in World Axe Throwing League events.

As for an AX Throwing place. I have nothing against that. I might even try it. Do I think people will get hurt? YUP!

I've been to plenty of gun ranges in Fairfax county and I'm always shocked at the recklessness of gun owners. I had one guy fire off a round into the floor one foot from my foot. The never said anything to me. Needless to say, I packed up and left that range.

From the looks of the Ax Throwing "range" I'd say something similar will happen. The place must be paying a fortune in insurance.

For fucks sake, FOX5 has probably spent a 1/2 hour of airtime this morning watching Wisdom Martin and some dumb bitch (who thinks it is all about her) throwing axes at this place.

Plenty of videos of people having near misses while axe throwing. I don't know how you could possibly allow kids to be in this place as an axe on a bounce back from a hard throw will travel past the throwing zone. The design just seems irresponsible.

This is the latest in marketing. A trend for businesses to bend the limits of risk and get more press doing it.

You see this at bars, breweries, and wineries. Wineries now offering "drinking games" You would think that would be a terrible idea but it certainly sells wine and draws huge crowds to the wineries. Waitresses at bars wearing clothing that doesn't leave much to the imagination.

Don't have to go that far away though. Just cross the river to compare Fairfax with its +1 million residents, permissive gun laws, and probably somewhere on the order of 3 million guns with DC and Baltimore with much smaller populations, restrictive gun laws, and far fewer guns but far higher homicide rates.
