Old cars owned by even older geezers...

I didn't see a single car today owned by someone under 50...most were over 60. This is NOVA. There's wealth here. There's YOUNG wealth here and zero fucks given about old cars.

Barrett-Jackson and Dana Mecum have ruined old cars.

Was at Cars and Coffee in Great Falls, yesterday. Then again at C&C at Kohls this AM. Both places were pretty packed. Probably 300+ cars in and out of C&C on Sat. and C&C today had probably close to 200.

One friend said C&C today was light, due to the Sully show, but it's mostly a younger crowd, anyways, at C&C. Under 55, mostly.

I would love to own a classic, could buy one right now, problem is VA DMV and passing their draconian inspection rules.

Since most older cars won't pass modern laws and retrofitting costs even more money, it's pointless to drop 25k on that GTO when you have to spend another 5k to make it pass VA inspection and get white tags and be able to actually drive and enjoy the car. If you buy as is with the safety that was there the day it was made, it will not pass and you have to get black tags and you can only pleasure cruise in it, not really take it out and enjoy it.

I had an antique car with black tags and EVERYTIME i drove it i got pulled over and harassed. I would be legit taking it out for a sunday afternoon cruise- they pulled me over and harassed me about not having va inspection on it even though black tags mean you DONT need inspection and we would go back and forth. The hassle with law enforcement who don't even know the law is not worth it.

This is why I don't bother- draconian DMV laws and harassing PD who don't know the law- not to mention they see a young person in an expensive classic car there are assumptions as to how the money was made and whatnot and I'm tired of the accusations. I work a full time career, not a mcjob and can easily afford it.

Most young folks don't have any money. It's the old guys who have WORKED and SAVED who have the money for these cars. And the interest.

If you're looking for young guys with expensive cars go down to South Beach. You'll find plenty of NY / NJ guido douchbags riding around with Yankees caps on backward in expensive ass cars bought from daddy's trust fund.

Congratulations on making the most ignorant blanket statement in this thread. I surely self-make more than you and I am likely half of your age.

I was there showing a car with my father. I'm way under 50 and I have a couple classics to show off eventually, but both are still in bodywork phase.
