I have been looking around for a store that would make a custom order piece of work for me but can’t seem to find a place that does that. I been finding mostly wood furniture stores and not what I been looking for. Does anybody know of any places that do this line of work?

Call the Woodcraft store in Springfield. I bet they can give you the name of somebody.

If you are looking for exoctic hard wood there are several places that have it. Dunlop Hard Woods in Chantilly has some very nice lumber if you catch them on the right day. They will also order you material. There is another place in Manassas' Northern Virginia Products or something like that that has some great choices of species by the board foot. They will also order. Hope that helps.
The bad thing about Wood Crafters is that they don't really specialize in lumber so their stock inventory is small so when they order you are at the mercy of the guys they are ordering from to pick something nice. They have a higher mark up too.

Mostly looking at someone making me something. I don't have the tools and it just a one time thing so getting the tools would be a waste.

Smoot lumber has a mill shop.

You might get a better answer if you tell us exactly what it is you want. Chair? Desk? Cabinet? Bread Box? Is it something you have designed or does it need to be designed?

Arlington Millwork went out long ago, you want something custom?? Your best bet as already posted go to the wood shop store in Springfield and see if someone would like to make it or can give you a referal. The place in Springfield does have some very exotic and expensive woods but in small quanities. Everone round here has to make a pile of money to survive, rent labor Obama Care, to be bothered by a small custom job anymore.

Thats easy, Home Dumpo can cut three foot off a piece of plywood for free. Done and Done.

I don't know what this guy wants built, but it really makes me wonder since he will not say what it is.
How can we really recommend a place when we don't know what the hell you want. Different places build different things.
I guess when he calls the place he will say, I'm just looking for 4ft by 5ft of custom work.
