If the shooter and the daughter both went went to the special school, there are only 16 students enrolled there! Tight quarters! The mom seemed to be more concerned about Nick’s views than about the fact that he spent time in the family home overnight. Perhaps a report to law enforcement about an unwanted late-night visitor might have stopped the unwelcomed visits.

Also, the Giampi’s neighbors had a responsibility to report the swastika incident to law enforcement. The neighbors wanted to be seen as being “nice.” Their reporting the incident might have saved lives. Sad all the way around.

The neighborhood Nick is from (Mason Neck) is notoriously racist and antisemitic, so I'm betting his neighbors probably thought it was funny and that's why they didn't go to the police.

You would think that knowing that this kid had been sneaking into their house that they would have taken precautions and blocked that access from him. I'm surprised they didn't have a security system in the first place.

At my university, there was a classmate who graduated from a similar school. But I would not say that he had any developmental disabilities since he felt there as if he were out of place. And in fact, all his problems were due to overwork, because he spent all his time studying and did not rest at all.
