FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating a shooting incident at a home in Fairfax County Monday night.

Around 7:55 p.m., police were called to the 4300 block of Pennbrook Village Drive to a report of a shooting incident. When they arrived, they found two victims, police said.

One of the victims was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital and has been pronounced dead, police said.

WUSA9 asked if this was a targeted shooting. "We are beginning the investigation and trying to get some of those questions answered," officials said.

MOUNT VERNON, Va. -- One person has died after a double shooting Monday evening in a tightly-knit community in southern Fairfax County.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, gunshots rang out around 8 p.m. in the 4300 block of Pembrook Village Drive, a quiet neighborhood off Route 1 in the Mount Vernon area.

Investigators have released few details about the case.

They will not say whether anyone has been arrested, but they confirm there is no active search underway for suspects.

Two people were rushed to the hospital. One of them was pronounced dead. The other was wounded.

According to neighbors, the community is typically very safe with children playing around the area.

The police investigation is ongoing.

The people around Route 1 should ask for accountability for their children's schools. With all the poverty and illegal kids the people who are paying the taxes, volunteer in the schools their kids are getting nothing in return except inner city schools. The principal at Mt.Vernon only supports the needy kids. She has run away many good teachers. Her and her husband have wasted much of the extra money that has been given to the school. The board of supervisors need to spread the low income people all over fairfax county. Then he needs to get fcps to get a new principal for mt Vernon to bring this section up like the city of Alexandria. Maybe it was Moran that helped get all the low income to this section. I have watched beautiful renovated apartments get ruined because this count helps low income people but they cannot respect anything just to ruin their homes and then want more and the worst part complain about the conditions.

One teen died and another was hospitalized after a shooting that took place at a residence off of Route 1, in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Police said officers responded to the 4300 block of Pembrook Village Drive at 7:55 p.m. on June 9, for a report of a shooting. Two teen boys, ages 14 and 16, were both discovered with gunshot wounds and transported to local hospitals. Police said the 14-year-old boy is currently listed as being in stable condition. The 16-year-old, Kevin Johnson, of Groveton Garden Road, died at the hospital. He had been shot in the upper body, according to police.

Police said there were several people in the home all known to each other and an 18-year-old discharged a weapon which struck the victims. On Thursday, police charged Leon Malik Johnson, 18, of the 4400 block of Pembrook Village Drive, with involuntary manslaughter.
