Fairfax County General :
Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I live in Oakton. Mid-afternoon yesterday, about 10 different police and other law enforcement vehicles came to the Oakcrest Farms neighborhood (near Oakton Shopping Center) and investigated a house there.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit of the Fairfax County Police Department interviewed all the neighbors and asked about the family who lived in that house, but it seemed as if the house was abandoned when the police arrived. I have learned from another neighbor that they found a body in the basement and expect foul play. However, apparently it is an ongoing investigation and the police will not tell anyone any further details. Police were carrying what I assume is evidence out of the house in duffel bags and putting it into vans. They spent about 3-4 hours in the neighborhood investigating.
If you have any more information on this case, please respond below! This whole thing is the craziest situation I have ever seen in Oakton.
do u know if the police usually release info like this soon after its happened? or if it will show up in any of the local police reports you can get online

The police do not release info about active investigations. So what do you need to know?
That's my best guess as well. I assume the police would have told people details if there was still a danger to the community.
Also, they asked questions about the family members specifically that made me think it was a dispute between members of the household. Didn't seem like it involved anyone else.
I understand police can't talk about active investigations, but I am dying to know what happened.

Let’s start with what YOU know. This is your neighbor, right? Who lived there? What did you tell police? What are your neighbors saying?
