Bullshit. He was indicted and convicted in 1993, and pulled 18 months in Club Fed. Got out in time to steal the election from Dole in 96, but in doing so violated the terms of his release and pulled another 16 months in 98-99. Not sure what the crime was, they did not release those details.

Those of us who were actually following along in 1998 understood the point being made perfectly well. If in the context of the question asked (whether a statement previously made by Clinton's lawyer "is" true), if the meaning of "is" were taken as limited to the present time, one answer would have been appropriate. If the past were to be admitted as well, then a different answer would have been appropriate.
