Get ready, progressive Fairfax. Primaries for contested races will be held on Tuesday, June 11, and will include a choice of Democratic candidates for the following offices...

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman
Board of Supervisors, Braddock District
Board of Supervisors, Hunter Mill District
Board of Supervisors, Lee District
Board of Supervisors, Providence District
Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney
Virginia Senate: 31st, 33rd and 35th Districts
Virginia House of Delegates: 38th and 49th Districts

There will be no ballots for Republican candidates because those are all chosen behind closed doors by party bosses instead of by the people.

Redistricting in Richmond and Hampton Roads leaves many GOP officeholders representing suddenly more Democratic voters, and with Dem turnout on the rise ever since Trump came along, there is a real possibility to take both houses of the legislature this year. High June 11 turnout for Dems is what will get the ball rolling.

To the few Republicans and/or Conservatives left: The OP is correct--there is no Republican primary, so that leaves you free to vote in the Democrat primary. In Virginia, registration is not by Party, so you can legally vote. So, the question is: do you vote for the most progressive candidate hoping that in the General election even mainstream Democrats will balk, or do you vote for the most moderate candidate hoping to limit the damage?

For those of you wanting more info on any of the candidates, most of them will be at our regular Thursday Klan meeting this week.

& for those of you libs who can't make it to the Klan meeting, all FFXCO Dem candidates will be at the regularly scheduled NAMBLA meeting the following week.
