car inspection question
Posted by: broken light ()
Date: February 14, 2015 11:47AM

I need to get the inspection done on my car, and I was wondering if the fact that my interior dome light doesn't work will fail the inspection.

It's not as simple as changing the bulb or fuse - apparently there isn't any power running to the dome light. All the other interior things work, it's just the dome light that doesn't (the car doesn't have map lights).

I'm sure Virginia is anal enough that this is indeed likely part of the state inspection however...in 30 years of having vehicles inspected, I've never once seen my dome light checked.

Every motor vehicle driven in the Commonwealth of VA must be in optimal operating condition. A faulty dome light is a severe road hazard and places everyone else on the road in grave danger.

Stop by your local automotive dealer and we will gladly replace this essential safety item for $300 + tax + a 15% shop fee. This includes our expert, computerized diagnostics and precise installation of a new Made in China light by one of our factory trained technicians.

Sounds like you need to remove the headliner since the wire is bad. You will probably have to remove the dash to rewire everything, you could be looking at a $1000+ repair.

my advise is to use the map lights and forget the dome forever. Its not worth removing the headliner that is for sure. If you must have the light Id run a new wire through the trim and snake it through to the outlet.

Seriously though, car won't fail for dome light, or lack thereof.

Get some tea candles and put them on the dash. Very romantic mood setter. You can use your vibrator in traffic.

Your dome light is not part of the Virginia vehicle safety inspection checklist.

Put a flashlight in your glove box and fugedditaboutit.

gerrymanderer2 (OP) posts several lies on ffu daily - many\.10think he's a fx co gov worker who is getting paid to do it for false DNC democrat "advertising". he floods ffu with useless posts to bump down major news, posts fecal matter, mutilated bodies, child porn, foreign drug ads and sneaker ads, tells people to kill themselves and government should seize them and put them on psych pills in prison - decided by democrat gov of course, promotes kangaroo courthouse trials, gives anti-religious rants, gives satanic ritual rants, posts black males with large dicks on white young females, portends white low birth rate and fall of USA, food tampering/poisoning, and anything possible to DEMORALIZE white people on ffu. (perhaps a chinese prisoner or isis member - but definitely knowledgeable of fx co gov from the inside at times). the website operator has told him "not to post or return" which are still posted - not removed, by the sysop: not because of a political leaning but for continual illegal and gross spam along with messages that are only to demoralize if not kill others. he/she plays at financial terrorism as well: continuall reporting false financial data, and fake emergency please from (fake members of the community he makes up)

g2 insanely posts meaningless questions perhaps all day - with the insane goal of wiping other people's opinions off the topic

Register the car in Maryland. No inspection required and no pp tax. Win win. Just like the illegals do. The dems will understand unless you are white.

Tell the inspector that you are legally blind, and do not need the dome light.

I had an inspector tell me I had the wrong bolts that were holding the license plate to the car. Of course he had the legal ones and for twenty bucks put them on. I countered that I would call the state police and have a trooper come by and see if there was anything wrong with the bolts. He passed it without the twenty dollar shakedown fee.

The state inspection is probably the biggest scam going. If you can find an honest inspector still with him even if it is miles away.
