I know this is a website for Fairfax County, but you would think that DC would come up in conversation more, at least tangentially. I never hear anyone talk about going to private schools in DC (a lot of Fairfax County kids in them btw, hanging out in the city or going to events there. I'm just curious if the people here spend a lot of time in the city. PEACE OUT

DC is like a third world country. No wait, that's not fair to third world countries.
It's a shithole run by the most incompetent and corrupt people on earth.
Case in point: a few years ago a guy from Stafford was struck by lightning and killed. It took his family like a month to get his body from those bastards, so they could bury him.

if you are trying to go into dc for bars, try clarendon. much closer, seems to be cooler people, much cheaper, and i have never had a bad time there.

I love DC. However one should heed the ealier comments and stay away from the bad parts which do seem to multiply after dark. That said, it was hard to get used to but now I love it. It's close, no tolls, NY is $12 for the bridges and that doesn't include the Turnpike. Great restaurants. AND most of the museums are FREE.

yeah i have heard dc cops are much more chill than ffx cops. Its probably because they know there are much more serious crimes that they should focus their attention on rather than grillin people for minor offenses.

I got pulled over in D.C. driving drunk as fuck on suspended with a baggie of over 20 e pills in it. DC's finest rolled up on me with guns drawn (too much movement in the car), but in the end, they just made me stomp the pills into the ground and ended up letting me drive off. True story...honest.

The fact is that the DC police used to be a pretty good agency until the corrupt Barry years in the 80's. Most of their "police officers" in DC would never get a second interview at a law enforcement agency in Virginia.

Yeah, that's a great theory...but in practice, I think urban police depts just flat don't have the time to get all worked up over stuff that FCPD (thankfully) DOES have the time for.

a lot of it has to do with jail overcrowding I bet. if they incarcerated everyone who got caught committing a misdemeanor in dc everyday, the jail would overflow.

DC has stuff Fairfax doesn't offer. Free Museums, free plays, and free attractions. Every weekend I take my kids into DC, last weekend we went up the clocktower at the Old Post Office, saw a music show at the National Theatre, and The Lincoln Days program at the National Archives.
This Sunday I am taking them to the revamped Ford's Theater.
