WHY IS RT 1 (RICHMOND HIGHWAY)SO SHITTY/GHETTO/CRACKHEAD INFESTED ??

I CANNOT GO DOWN ROUTE 1 WITHOUT SEEING DRUNKEN HOBOS PANHANDLING FOR MONEY, HOOKERS BEING PICKED UP BY SPICS, JUNKIES SMOKING CRACK AT GHETTO MOTELS. ITS A SHITHOLE AND WHY ISNT IT MERGED WITH DC ITS GOT JUST AS MANY NIGS AND CRACKSPOTS SO WHATS THE PROBLEM. SOMEONE LET ME IN ON THE SCOOP ?

It's in Virginia and Maryland was the state that donated their land to become DC.

Both MD and VA donated land to form the District. The VA part was later ceded back. It was Alexandria County back then, but see how the boundaries of today's Arlington County align with DC's?

Route 1 is the victim of the interstate system. Way back when it was the premier way to travel up and down the East Coast, then as I-95 and the bypasses were built, Route 1 became more and more abandoned and derelict. All those sleazy motels that you see were at one time the main way for travelers to lodge. The whole park your car outside your room was very popular.


Hopefully as Fort Belvoir and Quantico become more expansive with the result of BRAC 2005, Route 1 will be revitalized, at least from Prince William to Alexandria.

If you travel a little further south you will see they bulldozed that entire shithole known as Triangle. Even knocked down a McDonalds!

All this is what the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation is looking at, but it will all take quite a bit of time time to get it all organized and synergized. The simple fact that so many parcels along Route-1 are privately owned half-acre lots is likely to result in years of delay.

Because this president, the last president, and the one before that have all had open door policies for migrantes. As for the nig nogs, they're just fleeing DC and PG county.

Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the RT becomes DC and PG by all the cars licenses parked at every eating establishment and especially the Target and the two Walmart.

DC and PG niggers claim they don't like the service from the nigger employees they get at the DC and PG Walmart and Target. Then all the nigger employees have stolen all the good stuff from the Walmart and Target to sell from cars.

Niggers employees don't like washing their hands that work at the DC and PG eateries, so the niggers come to the RT places where they try to make the niggers and illegal employees wash their hands.

It is like niggers don't like niggers.

Route 1 is actually getting a lot better. Despite what you may think, it is already changing. Its only a matter of time before momentum picks up and more development occurs at a faster rate.

This isn't what you want to hear, but the Route 1 corridor is largely the result of premature development of that area coupled with decisions by Federal and local officials which favored other areas of the county over Route 1.

For example because it was developed early, you had a large number of small homes built on small lots on neighborhoods with narrow streets and limited amenities nearby. Not only were these types of neighborhoods not what later middle class home buyers looking for, they also did not easily lend themselves to small scale redevelopment. Even if you could tear down the home and fit a 3000 sq ft replacement on the lot, there would not be room for a 2 car garage, and the streets would be too narrow to park on.

Because Metro didn't reach the area and the County chose to push the Tysons-Dulles area for commercial development instead, you didn't have developers wanting to move in and do large scale redevelopment. First time middle class homebuyers with higher income potential had the option of buying larger, better homes further out and have acceptable commute to Tysons, or to DC via Metro or I-66, so they stopped buying there. Then when real estate prices did explode, many of the longer term residents sold out.

Route 1 isn't the only area hit by this same trend. Baileys Crossroads/7 Corners area along Route 7 and Route 50 were as well.

It's development was appropriate to the time. Pre-interstate, Route-1 was the major north-south travel route for the entire east coast. Richmond Highway south of Alexandria was the 40's and 50's equivalent of Breezewood. Then all the traffic moved to I-95. There went all the income. The interstate system is great, but it created impoverished ghost towns all across the country.

That much is true. The many tiny lots still existing along the Corridor today make consolidation and development of property a long slow difficult process. But it all became what it did to fit the present and what was expected in the future as of 70 years ago. We are trying to get started on the same sort of thing now and again without any real idea of what the world will look like 70 years from now.

The section of Route 1 at its absolutely worst in Northern Virginia is the part outside the main gate of Ft. Belvoir.


There are two apartment complexes outside the main gate that look like third world tenement buildings, and a homeless shelter that attracts all sorts of crazies. If you look up sex offenders for zip 22060, a lot of them end up at that shelter after release.

There's some union that uses a giant inflatable rat whenever they protest, and they hire all the residents of that homeless shelter to join in protests outside the main gate.

Wherever you find lots of liberals, you will find unending crime, corruption, unemployment, drugs, poverty, and decay. Goes hand-in-hand. Any questions? Visit Detroit!

Simple- it is one of the least expensive areas of Fairfax County to live.

There are working-class or military whites who live there as well (there are some nice apartment complexes just off the Highway who work at the Fort; the ones at the gate have been torn down for the Route one highway widening so that is no longer an issue), also there are a lot of Hispanic people who live in the complexes right along route 1 as well.

Where else do you expect the working-class person to live? Oh wait, Ffu "whites" are all "NIMBY" and raise rents/etc to keep poor minorities or poor people in general out of their neighborhood... yet complain when there is a concentration of poor people in one area of the county as well. So I ask again where do you expect them to live? Would you rather they be spread out throughout the county or living in one area? Which is it??

They are making low income housing in Fairfax and off Route 50. Then Route 1 will be like the rest of Fairfax County.
