Good. Happy for you. Good luck next year if that changes (the insurance: as noted elsewhere, the doctor isn't the issue, don't confuse them).

And yet...and yet...countries with socialized medicine consistently rank higher in overall care than the U.S., and at lower cost. Have you lived with socialized medicine? I have. It's not worse. That's a persistent lie that you've been sold, I'm afraid.

Yeah, no. That's a pretty paranoid view, and unrealistic. Canada--next door, and with socialized medicine--does NOT have a steady stream of wealthy people coming to the U.S. for service. Yes, the Bronfmans can afford to, and might, given the right circumstances. As would the Trumps. "loads of elitist Democrats"? Hardly. Especially when used to socialized medicine. Canadians freak out when asked to pay $25 to rent crutches for a broken leg, because they're not used to expecting to pay anything for medical care.

That was obviously hyperbole, but I was also clearly referring to insurance companies, not the GOP.
I can only think of two plausible reasons the GOP is so strongly against socialized medicine:
1) It doesn't work. Dozens of other countries' success would seem to belie this.
2) They're protecting their stock portfolios and CEO buddies in the health insurance industry.
Which do you think is more plausible?
