Is There a Secret Train Tunnel Through Fairfax County? Under W&O Trail? Toll Road?

The Secret Metro Tunnels

The Washington Metro is a subway system that serves the Washington DC area. It "officially" has 106 miles of track serving 86 stations in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland. Planning for the Metro system began in the 1950s during the height of the cold war. President Eisenhower created a secret rail planning commission that directed the development of a secondary secret underground rail system built alongside the public one.

This secret tunnel system currently connects the White House to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door, the New Executive Office Building (NEOB), the bunker under the Blair House, the bunker under the VP Residence at the Naval Observatory, the U.S. Capitol, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, the Pentagon, the State Department, and some other federal buildings in between. There is also a secret train that runs between DC's Union Station and Mt. Weather and is under the protection of the TSA Federal Air Marshals.

Long-term plans call for the expansion of the White House tunnel system to go south past the Pentagon; west past the CIA to Mount Weather; and north past Camp David up to Site R in Pennsylvania. The estimated completion date and exact route of this ambitious tunnel expansion plan remains classified.

The must have used alien technology to dig the tunnels without turning up any dirt, making any noise, having any construction vehicles, and leaving no traces. The workers were mind-wiped after the project...

Perhaps these "illegal aliens" that are being killed by the contractors in Fairfax were the ones who dug the tunnels (using the alien machinery underground). Hey why is this called Fairfax "Underground" anyway. Is Carey an alien?

You guys didn't know about the W&OD's basement? It is a corridor for illegal aliens and drugs that connects to another tunnel system near San Diego. Originally built under the auspices of a Fairfax Water line, it is now used to move thousands of kilograms of narcotics daily, which are used to fund secret government operations in Tuvalu. It would produce a lot more income, but they can't seem to keep the escalators working properly. Union rules and all that.

Well apparently there is train that runs from the White House and Pentagon to the CIA building.

Maybe they used tunneling machines.

There is a network of steam tunnels connecting various federal buildings downtown, as those were once the heating system. There are certainly tunnels connecting a a number of buildings in the area of the White House, and there is a subway running from the Capitol to House and Senate office buildings. The rest is stupid.

If you go back through this site, there are plenty of posts by people asked about what the booming sounds are, what the annoying "humming" is, why the shaking, etc. I have been open to considering that underground work through the metro region has been causing this, it's feasible and totally believable.

Well according to "24" there is an underground river connecting the Potomac to the White House basement so it must be true. They probably even have a submarine docked under the White House so Obama can sneak out for his sessions at the gay bath houses. LOL

I thought it was from the Tidal Basin. And I never knew there were palm trees at National Airport until I saw them on 24. And until Jack Bauer taught me better, I never realized that I could save time getting to NoVa by jumping onto "the 355" (Rockville Pike) if the Outer Loop through Bethesda was backed up. But in fairness, their technical advisor for the DC shoots was from New York City. He'd never been to Washington. Such is Hollywood. Watching a Castle rerun form their DC episodes earlier this week when a suspect was described as headed east on 14th Street. Oops!

The whole idea is not improbable...

http://cryptome.org/eyeball/usndc/usndc-eyeball.htm Within the last year the "shack" has come down. Magically a 26' dia. tunnel boring machine appears down the road at blue plains...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/trafficandcommuting/dc-water-unveils-giant-tunneling-machine-to-help-cut-sewage-spills-during-rainstorms/2013/04/09/a9c163aa-a14c-11e2-9c03-6952ff305f35_story.html

The TBM eats from the front, conveys out dirt rock from the back. Note that this project parallels the metro and csx lines. Would not be hard to off load material.

There is truth to this rumor. The purpose of the tunnels was to transmit secret government cables. However this was exploited by an army general who wanted to overthrow the government. Fortunately in 1971 he was thwarted by a few brave heroes who formed their own commando unit. The generals plan was disrupted however before his treason could be proven he got his revenge.

In 1972 the crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Yeah, what about all those cables that kept getting accidentally cut when they first started the Silver Line construction?

Remember those mysterious government agents that would come out to the initial construction sites when they first started digging?

Yes indeed, at 200 K street NW, in the car park underground there are two large doors that i think connect to this tunnel. a few times a year you would see MIB down there acting shady and occasionally black sedans rolling in and out.

every gov has them, London has a cool one you can see from the tube near Westminster if your quick enough, same as MI6/SIS building.

This is old news, and we have another thread already on it. The whole project was scrapped decades ago due to costs, improbable timeframes, etc. Instead an escape plan was setup to evacuate the president, congress, etc. using a combination of trains and helicopters. None of which are effective or efficient for evacuating any of them out of the capital.

..were mostly just put into secure pouches (briefcase-like things) which were then handcuffed to the wrist of a trained courier. Cheaper and easier to hide than a network of tunnels.

Except that plan was foiled by the crack team at FFXU that vigilantly tracks and reports on helicopter sightings over the skies in the Virginia suburbs. They possibly would have been better off using flight plans over Monkey County.

The tunnel was dug back in the 1950's by invisible negros. They were developed during WWII to be used against the Nazis.

The theory being that they would be air dropped in to over use the German social welfare system, and cause a collapse of the Nazi German Economy.

Why do you think they built the silver line on 66. The tunnels needed maintenance and they needed a cover story to dig and repair them.

The tunnels come up the toll road and then branch off and go under the W&O trail up into WV. They have high speed bullet type trains in them that contain their own "low grade nuclear aircraft carrier" power sources.

Its true! My grandfather served in congress for nearly 40 years. When I was around 6, I went to visit him at his office in DC. After he showed me around the Capitol, he asked if I would like to go play golf with him, and I said yes. I thought we were going to drive, but we went down into the basement and boarded a train. It was very plosh and fancy with african american men in tuxedos serving drinks and snacks. My grandfather made me promise I would never mention it to anyone, including my parents. I remember the train going very fast and it only traveled in a tunnel. I everntually feel asleep and my grandfather woke me up an hour later and we were at the Greenbriar in WV. Apparently, he got in some trouble for bringing me on the train, because he couldn't take me back and my parents had to come pick me up. I remember, they were really mad and he told them his friend who drove us had a family emergency and left without us because I wandered off! I didn't get in trouble though, and we did get to spend the night at the Greenbriar!

This is absolutely true. There are tunnels under all the major federal buildings in DC. A secondary subway rail system runs through them. The subways are only a couple of cars, and no fare cards are necessary. The secret subway lines are separate from the Metro and the tracks do not connect with metro.

As far as what happened to the dirt, anyone who drove on Andrews Air Force Base in the past few years could see the massive piles of dirt and rock at the northwest corner of the runway that were being excavated from a recent tunneling operation. There was a constant stream of dump trucks coming and going out the back gate.

The White House complex and executive office building area has been so undermined with subterranean offices that you can't really call them tunnels anymore -- it's like an anthill or the underwater portion of an iceberg with the White House, Executive Office Buildings, etc. sticking up above ground.

Years ago they actually had Atomic tunnel boring machines that melted rock. It is not well documented what they were used for. They certainly had the capability to burrow to remote sites in short time.

Tell us again about the Mole-Way. That was a better story than this one. There certainly are two short tramways that connect neighboring House and Senate office buildings to the Capitol so that members can move to and from their offices quickly when floor votes are called. There is certainly a network of underground walkways connecting Treasury buildings, the White House, EEOB, Blair House and NEOB. There is also a network of tunnels that carry the steam pipes that once did and in some cases still do provide heat to downtown federal office buildings. There is really nothing more to see here. No romance. No mystery. No intrigue at all.

Yes basically all the Federal buildings are interconnected by tunnels. The underground areas around the White House and Capitol are an especially dense warren of subterranean offices and tunnels, going down several levels. Some parts are open to the public e.g. the Capitol visitor center.

A funny bit of life imitating art is in the basement of the J Edgar Hoover building there is a series of automatic doors that was obviously inspired by the opening scene from the "Get Smart" TV show. It's so eerily similar you can practically hear the theme song playing.

There has been a request for proposals to replace the secret subway from the Pentagon under the river, and connect it to the one that runs out to Andrews AFB with a high-speed system. Supposedly Obama is not happy having to ride in a car or helicopter to get to Air Force One.

That is silly. Although DC has waterfront access and ample places to store a secret submarine, it simply would not be practical. The river is too shallow and the sub would only be able to come and go at night if it wanted to remain at least somewhat clandestine.

Huge piles of dirt actually don't necessarily attract a lot of attention. There were huge amounts of dirt and dump truck traffic back when they excavated the Greenrier and recently from the tunnel operations at Andrews AFB. You could easily see the tunnel openings and the huge piles of dirt from commercial airliners. It's something people pass every day and recognize but never makes it to the headlines. Although technically it's a secret, "everybody" knows about it, nevertheless you don't see press releases and media tours of the tunnels nor most of the facilities.

From HPSF in Bluemont to Dulles Airport: It's not a rail tunnel but a driveable 2-lane paved road constructed in the 1950's. Probably continues from Dulles Airport under the original Dulles Toll Road toward Pentagon and beyond? HPSF construction in Bluemont utilized some type of TBM in the 1950's. Stone refuse was removed from the site near Bluemont and loaded into open-top rail cars from Bluemont/Round Hill for W&OD rail system for off loading in the Ashburn area followed by truck delivery to Dulles Airport under construction. It was a brilliant plan. Stone from HPSF was further processed/crushed and used as aggregate for the foundation construction of Dulles Airport terminal and initial runways. Luck Stone still operates a quarry in Ashburn for consumer stone aggregate. Loudoun County was a sleepy agricultural area back in that day and no one suspected anything for the underground construction of a tunnel that would have been unbelievable but true.

There's nothing else to HHMI aside from private research for the good of all. Walk the Janelia property to see adequate/private security that does not match
anything close to Fed. Gov. levels of perimeter security for one of their secured facilities.

They should enlarge the tunnels so they could be used for practical transportation purposes. Add 2 car lanes in each direction to the train tunnels and the smaller ones should have conveyor belts like in airports. That would get more traffic off the roads, and they could still shut them down for the president to pass through.

Maybe that is related. There was also an enormous pile of dirt inside the flight line, on the southeast side, near the end of runway 01R. It was a big operation and there was even some kind of concrete tower facility. Dump trucks were constantly coming and going literally for a couple years. On Google maps there is some signs of activity there and some earth moving equipment is visible. The tunnel would have had to go under the runways to reach the Air Force One hanger

So if we have a tunnel to Greenbriar, how many others are there? I would think the gov't would be using the boring machines that melt the rock instead of simply displacing it - much much more clandestine for any top=secret projects. One thing for sure, they won't be opening them up to ease congestion!

I used to work in Tysons Corner areround the early 1990s. There were certain times of the year when the parking lots along the abandoned Mitre buildings along 123 would unexplainably fill up with cars, and these would be left there 24 hrs a day for days. These buildings were empty, for Mitre had moved into its new digs across the 123 street. Then, at the same time frames as the cars filling up unused parking lots, I would also notice (along Lewinsville Road where there is an elementary school) across the street there is a recreation center and park with a huge parking lot.

Sometimes before a weekend, while driving by there from work very late at night, I would see a bunch of big white buses parked in there in the dark with no lettering or markings on them. Lots of people would be milling around in the dark and boarding the buses.

I suspected it was shift change time out at Mt Weather or something, with a new crew out to relieve the old one maybe?

This thread is stupid. But as for the cars in the lot: were they new? Did you notice? I'm betting it was just being used by car dealers to store stock.

It's easy enough to watch the people going in to the white house grounds every day and know there is a huge underground warren of offices. The Air Force alone has an entire squadron working there at the White House Communications Agency.

The visitor center on the east side of the Capitol uses only a fraction of the new space created by the construction. It could serve as an emergency shelter in some situations but that is not the primary function. The entire area on the east side was excavated -- and you can go inside the visitor center for yourself and simply look around to establish the visitor center is not that large. If you ask nicely and have appointments with offices in both the House and Senate, you might be allowed to go through the tunnels and/or pass through the visitor center between House and Senate. Pay attention and you can see plenty of doorways and stairwells as well as people going about their business in the new areas.

Since this is a small group and I know you folks will keep this confidential I will tell you what that tunnel was used for:
during the colonial period some three million Irish were sent as indentured servants ( slaves ) and were moved within the different states by way of this tunnel system. Often being led to jets that were stationed outside of several tunnel entrances. These jets would fly these irish slaves to Africa.
