Probably got tired of doing traffic. Graduate of NYU and former radio host. Maybe she wanted a real gig at NBC (and was waiting for it) and it became apparent that was not gonna happen.

Danella did a terrific job at building the NBC4 News brand after the audience had gotten used to decades of Jerry Edwards w/Barbara, Joe, and Tom.
I'm extremely impressed with Melissa. Traffic, like weather, is unscripted. Obviously Melissa's years of doing live location reports qualifies her well to take over segments where you have no idea what could happen and she just has to roll with it.
You can tell Melissa's spent the majority of her life here. She smoothly delivers what's happening in the Baltimore-Washington transportation system with authority, poise, and elegance.

I liked Danella as well, and, I am sure you are not the only one who watch news anchors based on looks and not reporting. Melissa is very easy on the eyes. In fact, she has an inviting disposition and I'll bet she gets along well with the NBC staff. Danella was outright gorgeous and didn't appear to have an air about herself. I'm sure she will succeed wherever and whatever she chooses to do. Best wishes beautiful, your husband is lucky.

Danella was lovely but I have to be honest and say I found her over caffeinated and a little too possessive about the traffic. Everytime I heard her I imagined her therapist teaching her to be assertive by using "I" statements. It was never about us the audience... "You will find an accident on 295..." It was always about her "I am see an incident at Colesville road... I have reports of a slow down..." To me seemed very disconnected from her audience but I figured she would settle down eventually. Disclaimer: I have a zero traffic 9 minute commute so I was not exactly a frequent watcher.

Danella wasn't terrible but wasn't good. She seemed to be trying too hard and like others said, her voice is off putting. She used her hands WAY too much which is super distracting. She came off as an intern.
Melissa on the other hand does a fantastic job and is very natural. She comes off as more warming and intelligent.
