Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Want to see your hard earned tax dollars? Visit Bull Run ES in Centreville. This is the commuter lot for school employees to swap out their cars,as they then get in their personally owned vehicles. My guess is twenty plus employees do this Monday through Friday using county gas and vehicles. A very good place to trim fat if budget conscious.

Those are not just FCPS vehicles, many of them are County government vehicles. There is a limit to how far you can take your county issued vehicle home at night so some vehicles are parked at county or state properties that have plentiful parking available. Parking at the government center is limited so employees are asked to park their personal vehicles at these remote sites and take the county vehicle in to work each morning and then return it to the remote parking location at the end of the day.
It is kind of a pain switching vehicles each morning but in my case it saves me money as it saves me about 30 miles a day on my personal vehicle. This is done for the BENEFIT of the county taxpayers you ignorant fuck.

if i were doing actuary accounting i would call it: GRAND THEFT AUTO AND JAILTIME
especially considering shar-on bull-o-va illegals in gov are very likely using ASIAN cars as "fcps" cars
Want the school system to save money? Here are some ideas.....use suburban like vehicles instead of busses to transport handicapped kids (there is a full size bus that brings a Cat B student to South Run Rec Center to volunteer - and this happens to other work sites many times a day), eliminate Instructional Coaches (teachers here are highly educated - just fire the incompetent ones), eliminate the "study hall/remediation" time and put the time back into academics, do not supply students with calculators, compensate department chairs and testers instead of having them teach one less class, get rid of half the assistant principles in high school, offer fewer ESOL classes, only have true Special Ed students in SpEd classes (too many are just lazy - I'm a retired SpEd teacher and I have seen this) . How is that for a start?
Arlington does something very similar. As mentioned the problem has to do with parking at the primary office location or lack there of.
So I know Arlington County Inspectors that live outside of Arlington, they can drive the car just to the Arlington line and then they park and get in their personal vehicle for the final part of the trip home.
I was with a buddy of mine from Arlington one evening and we were heading from Falls Church back to his place in Arlington and he pointed out the Arlington County car parked on the side of the road and explained he knew the inspector and this was where he swapped cars each day.
Not sure everyone has this option, but there are some that do.
Again, it seems to save the counties on parking issues, not much different than many of the school buses are parked at schools across the County rather than at the 3 or 4 bus depots around the County. Saves time and resources with everyone needing to pick up a bus from a depot.

That is a poor attitude you have to the people paying your salary.
"It is kind of a pain switching vehicles each
morning but in my case it saves me money"
So saving you money and not the taxpayers is what it is all about? You people would not last a minute in a non government job where results count and not how much you can get over on the system.
There are county employees that take their assigned vehicles home to other counties and states if they live in Maryland or West Virginia. What the OP is describing is how it works for the rank and file employees, there are some employees, mid level managers and up that are allowed to take their vehicles as far away as Lyndon Va., the Eastern Shore and Charleston W Va. as part of their compensation package. They are taxed by the state for this privilege. These people can't afford to live in the county yet they are charged with control of the operating funds of their departments. If all you taxpayers really think they give a rats ass about saving you money, they don't. It's really about what's easiest for them in making themselves look good to their superiors. They could care less what taxpayers think. To them taxpayers are a necessary pain in the ass so they can keep spoon feeding money to contractors that kick back a percentage to them to help offset the difference in compensation between working in the private vs. public sectors.

So county employee....let me make sure I'm understanding you. There's limited parking at the government center. To resolve this dilemma, county employees who work there drive their personal vehicles to a remote location, get in a county vehicle, continue to work, and park the county vehicle at the same government center that has limited parking.
I have several friends who don't own cars, and use their employer provided cars for personal transportation. Why is it OK for them and not for government employees?

Yes, you are almost there Corky! We drive our county vehicles all over the county, we go to the office once or twice a week if that. Our county vehicles do not take up assigned spaces at the government center. As Fairfax continues it's suburban to urban transformation there will be more and more employees taking their county vehicles home and this is a benefit for the taxpayers. You are an ignorant fuck.

That way they only take up one parking spot instead of two. Makes perfect sense.
Public employees use public vehicles to conduct public business. When they go back off the clock, they go back to using their personal vehicles. Except of course for those (such as first responders) who have permission to take their public vehicles home with them at night. There is nothing different here from the way in which company cars are used in the private sector.

I have a neighbor who is a FCPS plumber and he has been bringing his county van home for over 15 years. I suppose there are after hours plumbing emergencies that need to be responded too though.
I've seen asians drive asian mini-van around with FCPS logos around apparently shopping not on official business.
I can tell you there was no such thing as a "asian school mini-van" before Bill Clinton maybe not before Obama.
There was school owned maintenance trucks for janitor crew - often duelly. Vans - but women didn't drive them - maintenance crew did - USA vans of course.
Some county citizen called in and complained about me for driving a county vehicle with a child safety seat in the back. I guess they thought I was driving my own kid around. These citizens need to mind their own business. I will use my county car any way I damn well please!
At LEAST 90% of county workers should be fired. They are NOTHING but leeches, producing nothing and consuming everything. Scum of the earth. No decent person with a conscience could sleep at night doing that, so all they ever get are the real lowest of the low - immoral human refuse, who couldn't hack in it the private sector.
Oh, and for a couple of the idiot posters here, the difference between a private employer supplying an employee with a vehicle, and the county doing it, is obvious to the rest of us. With a private employer, they are doing it with their own money. With the county, they are doing it with MY MONEY.

Asian government workers are the worst too. They do a good job of making lazy black people look like they're productive.

You are correct with your response about these scum bag leeches using government vehicles. These low life bastards need to get off the payroll, trim the fat on their jobs, and get them out of America. Makes me sick that Tax dollars are going to them.
