Next to McDondald's. Dont' know if the redevelopment will include everything approved in 2016.

Walked passed the demolition site yesterday and the drawing of the new property made me smile.
Looks like the architect and/or the developer decided to relive her/his childhood.
Remember the old Fisher-Price play sets where you pull the car up the ramp to wash it?
Well, you will do the same thing at the new Flagship car wash. Drive your car up the ramp into the building. Get it washed, then drive down the other ramp back onto Maple Avenue.
The only thing that would make it better is to place your Chik-Fil-A order along with your deluxe wash and get your meal when at the end of the line.

I am waiting to see how this works. Vienna typically does not allocate adequate parking. The parking lot at Noodles/ Chipotle etc. etc. etc. next to Walgreens is one example. Remember how Safeway had that parking lot attendant yelling at people who used the Safeway lot as overflow parking, even though the lot was empty/ underutilized? (And still is.)

If only this place were to look as good as the artist rendering. Drove by the other day. The entire structure comes all the way out to Rt. 123. It is a monstrosity. There is absolutely no room for a buffer and any type of aesthetic features to detract from how immense the structure is. I think the Vienna BOS was sold a bill a goods by the developer and architectural firm. Cannot seem to find any pictures on the web of the current construction.

With the Wolftrap and Marco Polo sites already in the MAC pipeline though, the question arises as to how and where a line will be drawn.

There are no more lines to be drawn. The shopping center with the Giant has already been approved for demolition. They are moving it forward toward 123 and will have all the parking behind it. Driving down 123 will eventually be like driving down many other roads around here:

There are no more lines to be drawn. The shopping center with the Giant has already been approved for demolition. They are moving it forward toward 123 and will have all the parking behind it. Driving down 123 will eventually be like driving down many other roads around here:

What is true is that the property has been purchased by a group called GRI. No plans for actual redevelopment of anything have yet been submitted, studied, or approved. The MAC projects that have so far been approved are generating a lot of citizen protest. There is no certainty at all that any of this will be able to move forward as planned.

That stretch of road is like a little experiment that shows what happens when cops actually enforce traffic law. It's amazing how quickly people slow down and rediscover their turn signals. If only all of the area was as well policed as that .5 mile section of road.
