I don't know if they work in Virginia, but I always see Cohen, Snyder, Eisenberg and Katzenberg advertised as "the people's choice". Seems to me that if they advertise that on TV and in the yellow pages, it has to be true, right? Plus, they all seem to have names that would indicate that they are of the Jewish faith, and I always prefer my lawyers and bankers to be of that religion. Give them a try and report back to us. It's only a couple of felonies after all.

I'd suggest Lionel Hutz. I'm pretty sure he works out of Springfield. He's been involved in a lot of high profile cases, but I think he's relatively inexpensive.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier! You should look up Daniel Kaffee. I knew him when we were in the JAG Corps together and he was a damn fine lawyer. This one time, I saw him get a Marine Corps colonel to admit to wrong doing as post commander at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. It was an amazing piece of psychology and jurisprudence. He's your man if he is still in the area!

DONT HIRE Mark Dycio. He used to be a good lawyer and his courtroom theatrics were legendary but now hes only interested in overcharging and playing unnecessary head games with his clients. Dycio will say one thing and do another. Quote one rate then charge another. Dycio used to have no problem tearing up a cops testimony on the stand but now avoids it like the plague and will push you to settle for the first plea bargain he gets. My guess is hes made his millions and no longer has the drive and hunger to put much effort into defending people. He will lie right to your face but the funny thing is hes not very good at it. Try asking him the same question a couple weeks apart and youll get two different answers. I was shocked how many times my bullshit detecter went off when dealing with him. When confronted about dropping the ball you should have seen the fit he threw. Sheesh! Rather than admit his oversight he just throws a tantrum and tries to give you another line of bullshit. I've never seen a grown man be such a baby. There are many more ethical, competent and mature lawyers out there so really I would stay away from Dycio if I were you unless you want to be overcharged, ridiculed, misled and get a worse sentence then you would get with a better and more cost effective lawyer.

Dycio may be difficult to deal with at times but he is very effective. His attitude and demeanor doesn't matter so long as he gets results. He got my wife and I out of some potentially serious charges when I've heard of people going away for a long time for a fraction of the trouble we were in. He's also helped out many of my friends just as effectively. His price was high and I am still paying him each month but as far as I'm concerned he was worth every penny and I would definitely use him again.

Mark Dycio has also gotten me out of lot sticky situations and sure he's expensive, some times difficult to deal with but at the end of the day you have to sit back and ask yourself, "Do I want to or can I do the time"? Sometimes paying the high prices most great attorneys charge is well worth the hassle and theatrics if it keeps your butt out of jail or paying the piper in another way.
I believe the gentlemen who allude that he is not worth it and tells you something different when you ask the same question probably phrased the question in a different way and do not understand the complexities of the law. I urge you to try do what Mark does on any given day and see if you can be more effective and get close to the same results.

Peter Greenspun is who I would hire if my ass was on the line. Defending Muhammed is an endorsement because when the state is hiring the defense for a high profile defendant like that, they want the best attorney they can find. They do not want an appeal based on the quality of the lawyer. Tell me anyone, based on the evidence that was reported by the Post, who could have gotten Muhhamed a better outcome?
There may be others as good, but you won't find anyone better than Peter. But, he also charges more than most. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I definitely would go with Greenspun if i could afford him. There is a reason he is the only attorney in Fairfax County always listed in Washingtonian's top lawyers. You will never see Dycio, Whitestone, or any of the other attorneys listed in these lawyer threads on those lists. Is there really a lawyer out there that could have gotten Mohammed out of the death penalty??

A great lawyer needs to be well rounded. Some you dont hear of too often make so much money they would prefer to fly under the radar.
Can anyone show a not guilty verdict for any of Greenspun's front page cases. seen him in trial?
He asks for the cases because his name gets out there. While he is a good lawyer, it does not make him a great trial lawyer.Let's face it, criminal cases do not pay alot. THere are some very lucrative attorneys who make their money in other areas and are still good lawyers for a crim case.
Marv Albert's case was co-counseled with Roy Black from Florida. Marv Albert had no prior records - so for the million plus he spent on counsel's fees, there are at least 10 other lawyers who could have done the same for under 100,000.
Some of the names mentioned on this sight are solid lawyers.
Dycio - knows people, glad hands does not try many cases but is relaible. Charges tons.
Whitestone - has a good name. trades on it, but you may hire him and get someoness qualified. may be winding down - charismatic
Sprano - salt of earth dilgent lawyer.
Hicks - solid DUI attorney. expensive.
Shapiro - good. More federal cases.
Pikrallidas - one rough bastard. intimidating. Represents NFL player shot last year. does alot of serious injury cases
Plfchan - unknown

Sheryl Shane represented me and many of my friends on several occasions. The other side wanted to settle and we went to trial and won. Most other lawyers don't want to take her into the court room. I highly recommend her.

I used Mark a while back on a business sale. He does not work to hard and over charges his time...Find someone else!

My husband is in jail for 2nd degree attempted murder and malicious wounding..

ummm you cant just "request high profile cases" as said above. youre an idiot and that makes no sense. you have to get HIRED. the client or state must come to you. greenspun has gotten so many charges dropped or lowered. many of his clients get acquitted, and many get greatly reduced sentences. GREENSPUN is the HIGHEST RANKED defense attorney in the washingtonian best lawyers list. how can you honestly argue with that...

It is very difficult to win a defamation suit in Virginia. "In my opinion" is a valid defense, regardless of facts or motive.
Even if you do win, the costs of discovery and depositions will wipe out anything you might win. And attorney fees are not reimbursed by the loser in general district court.

OK, We aren't talking murder 1 charges here. You need a defense lawyer that practices in the court that he is going to be tried in.
The best advice is to go talk to the bailifs at that court house. They will know who is best. Also find out which lawyers the cops higher when they get caught on vidio need a defense lawyer cause they are also inocent unless proven guilty.

David Hall is the best criminal defence lawyer hands down.
I've been to court with him about 7 to 8 times. Probably safe to say i put one of his kids through college. Yet I've never spent a day in jail. He use to be a prosecutor before he became a defense attorney. I've also had the pleasure of being represented by one of his associates, Greg Beckwith. There honestly have been few better moments in my life than the time David Hall has made my prosecuting officers jaw drop. I actually was found not guilty for a possession charge.
