29 & Gallows

So I hear via WTOP that there is not enough money to finish the road improvements at 29 & Gallows road.

So what now? They will leave the intersection looking like a war zone!?

why not all the other roads in the county are ridden with potholes and bordering on undriveable, why have that area be different?

I'm not talking about the potholes. They have demolished every building at that intersection to make way for the new road.

You are making much ado about nothing.

Sharon Bulova is the Board Chairman now and Gerry said she was his right-arm gal when it came to "meeting our transportation challenges."

Kaine said: " Sharon Bulova is a leader on education, the environment and transportation."

The part of 29 right next to the field goal antenna- i swore I bent my axle or at least knocked the wheels out of alightment. Right where the lanes shift in front of the Sunoco- I drove thru when it snowed last week and could;t figure out where the lanes went.

They're eventually going to build an interchange there.

Project Updates

Environmental Documentation
For the Proposed Improvements to
Lee Highway (Rte 29) and Gallows Road (Rte 650)
VDOT Project 0029-029-119, PE101, RW208, C508
Federal Aid Project # STP-5401 (620)

A Categorical Exclusion has been prepared to evaluate the proposed improvements to Lee Highway and Gallows Road. The improvement are proposed to widen both Lee Highway and Gallows road to five and six lanes divided, with a twenty-eight foot median, as follows:

- Lee Highway from 0.009 mile west of Merrilee Drive (Rte 6065) to the Capital Beltway (Rte I-495) and

- Gallows Road from Gatehouse Road (Rte 4037) to south of Prosperity Avenue.

The project length along Lee Highway is approximately 0.6 mile; the length along Gallows Road is approximately 0.8 mile. The total project length is 1.4 miles. The intersection of Lee Highway and Gallows Road will remain at-grade.

It looks like the project for an at-grade intersection has been taken off the books under the unfunded projects list:
