I couldn't agree more, Heartbroken... I also know some firefighters in Fairfax County, and I am amazed and disgusted by the banter and photos on this site. I stand corrected by the use of the word 'all'... it doesn't make me feel any better about what I have seen here, which 'seems' to go on in Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. I beg your pardon if you are one of the good apples.

Obviously, suicide is the worst, but only because it is so sad, and it implies that a person was so depressed, they could not see any other way out.

I'm not sure why that was lumped with cheating, as these 2 things do not compare. Additionally, I did not realize we are going back to medieval laws, where women are stoned for adultery. If you are concerned about someone's actions or behavior, you go to the person, or directly to her husband if you deem it necessary. There is absolutely no reason to publically denounce someone using their first and last name on a public website. You have no idea what people are going through that could lead to certain behaviors. I believe the people hiding behind their computers spouting out crude and nasty remarks about their co-workers are the worst of all.

If you want to be the morality police a public forum is not the way. Be a man and talk to her husband in private if you're so concerned. You must be an angry person if you're angry about other peoples sins.

IF this woman did have an affair, maybe there was a good reason for it. Don't anyone get all righteous about it either. There are LOTS of reasons a woman cheats on her husband, including abuse, alcohol, her husband cheating on her, etc. I'm not saying that is what happened in this case. I'm just pointing out that there are many valid reasons for a wife to cheat, or a husband for that matter. 'til death us do part doesn't mean putting up with shit that no one should endure.

I understand and agree. But the people who have come on here to do battle on her behalf, as well-intentioned as they may be, are wasting their time. Her family is aware of this site, and what was said. Reading it once was hurtful enough. Dredging it up will not ease their pain. All this does is give more trolls an opportunity to pile on. When you identify yourself as a firefighter, or military member, or whatever, you are representing that organization, whether for good or for bad. When "shitbags" post crass and cruel things as representatives of a specific organization, it is up to the organization to conduct an investigation and stop the abuse. I would never get away with posting such things under my company's name. If I did so, I guarantee an investigation would be launched, my IP address would be identified, and I would be fired. I think it is important for this thread to come under fire by the public, as hard as it may be for the family. This woman is not the only one who was harassed. The Fairfax County Fire Department needs to be aware of this and to put a stop to it, if only to help the next victim.

Exactly. As hard as it is for people who knew and loved Nicole, these posts need to be brought to the attention of the public so that leadership of the Fairfax Fire Dept is pressured to do something about it. Not just for Nicole's memory but to help other women who were/are victimized.

I believe that the Cyber Bully law of 2012 needs to be reviewed, if it's found that this woman has taken her life. This site clearly shows that she was being harassed, along with another woman named and another described. In the face of clensing infedelity from their department, I find it odd that not 1 man was named. Considering female employees were named and described, I hope that they are taking action against this type of further harassment and they've made their employer aware.

6. Have reasonable expectations. Fairfax will never be allowed to detail intimate details of a personnel investigation unless it's determined that the actions here were criminal. However, because this played out on a public message board, Fairfax must publicly acknowledge that what happened here was a terrible, unacceptable thing, investigate whether or not the posters here are in fact employees and take action according to their own human resources policies. Congratulations, you just made a joke of your entire department.

You destroyed the image of valor and class that is associated with your profession. I feel sorry for the hardworking people that you brought down with you because I (and I am sure a lot of others) will never look at any of you the same. Don't be surprised if furture fundraising efforts do not go as well as planned.

I don't care what a co-worker did or what rumor you heard, you do not post it like some juvenile coward on an anonymous public message board. To do so makes your entire department look bad, not just that person. You are a huge disappointment and a disgrace to your profession.

How can we trust you to take care of us with dignity and respect when you can't even do that for your own?
