video we took of the Centreville Tornado in 2004

As promised, here is the video that we took of the tornado that touched down in Centreville, Va in Sept of 2004. It crossed Stone rd just next to the Giant food store and went into the Country Club Manor development, where it continued to jump, playing hit or miss depending on where it would touch down. We were lucky as it remained going somewhat straight and didnt turn our direction. What stood out the most for me was how green the clouds were and how silent and still it was only to turn on a dime to being really loud and how the wind would quickly change from one direction to the complete opposite direction. If you look closely you can see debris just being flung high in the sky, and how violent the cloud rotation is. I just hope that tomorrow wont be a repeat of that experience.

Not oz...... well im just so glad that you were here to experience it with us, as well as to hand over the video to representatives from WUSA9 to use as video feed for that evenings local news in regards to the CONFIRMED "F1 tornado" by NWS/NOAA. Maybe you didnt see all the trees that were stripped bare and twisted like corkscrews, or the carport from one house that was sitting in a neighbors yard on the next street over, lets not forget the tree branches that weighed around 2-300 lbs that had skewered the side of several homes and last but not least, the 3-4 house roofs that either blew apart or landed safely nearby. I could go on, but whats the point when you were there to see it, hear it, and experience it. I thought I might provide a little fun fact for you courtesy of Wikipedia...

Question:

What is the difference between a tornado and funnel cloud?

Answer:

A tornado reaches the ground with winds strong enough to do damage, a funnel cloud does not.

And JUST YOU ALL KNOW, when we think of tornadoes, we think of essentially of vortex of cloud connecting the sky and the ground. This is NOT always the case. What you are seeing is usually clouds, precipitation, and debris. The vortex, the main part of the tornado, can be on the ground with out visibile signs. Things like ground obstacles, speed of the vortex, speed of the the actual storm, and how long into the tornado's life it is can ALL affect how much of it is totally visible.

Usually, it will eventually all become visible, or, colored in, if you will.

Bobby jooo.... I appreciate your comment, thank you, but Ive been married for 19 years.

Rydellroad.... thank you for posting that Tornado History link, I didnt know how to obtain information such as the histories of tornados all in one spot. This will be some great reading material.

neighborbraj... your absolutely correct in that there are times a tornado appears to have lifted when in reality it is still very much on the ground wrecking havoc. My husband made the comment in the video several times that he thought it had lifted, however if he had looked towards the ground, instead of up to the sky which is a common mistake many people make, then he would have noticed alot of rotation at ground level, indicating this tornado was still very active. He actually cut the video off early thinking it had lifted, regardless we were very excited to have gotten as much as we did and WUSA9 was sending out a field crew to report the damage and had asked if we would meet them over in that area so they could use our video footage.

Look at that face, do you honestly think her husband is happy with that? She's certainly not, that's why she applied every fucking filter available to that picture.

Hideous!

Yes happily married :)

For real..... lol, you make me laugh. I dont have any issues putting my identity out there, unlike yourself who needs to hide behind a computer and use multiple id's to cover up who you are. Im honored that you are able to make yourself laugh at my expense. It makes me feel good, so enjoy yourself and have a wonderful night :)

My question is why are you posting a 10 year old video..... Who gives a fuck about some whirlwind that happened in 2004?

I think most sensible people would be happy if Centreville was completely wiped from the earth anyway.

Snowbro.... if my posting a video from 10 yrs ago bothered you so much and you don't give a fuck about what happened, then why the hell did you open and read the post???? You didn't have to, but you did anyway and then felt the need to bitch and complain about it. You had every opportunity to ignore the post and skip over it, but you couldn't do it could you, your just a miserable person and feel the need to cause problems for others when it wasn't called for.
You want to know why after 10 yrs I was posting a video of a tornado.... because another poster POLITELY asked if I would post it for them. That simple.
