Did chain bridge road at one point connect to an actual chain bridge?

Since replaced, an older version of the bridge was indeed engineered of chain.

There are round iron rings embedded in rock areas around the current bridge , yes they had chains attached on an older bridge

Bring a fishing rod , spring perch should be in Fletchers is a great place in spring

Used to scramble down the sort of path to fish just below the bridge. What a great way to spend a day! The current bridge is the eighth one at that site. The third one was the actual Chain Bridge. The span was pushed by the port of Georgetown which wanted to give Virginia farmers an easy way to stay away from their dreaded rivals in Alexandria.
