Been to about 4 different home depots in the are and noticed in the evenings what seems to be a large influx of new arrivals. home depot got some deal with some African coyote to bring in cheap labour?

One of my co-workers is Nigerian and said he used to work at Home Depot when he first came to this area. The managers treat them like shit and make them bring carts in from the parking lot and sweep the store. So to answer your question, yes...sort of.

Made them bring in carts? Sweep the floors? That's their fucking job!

Putting aside the "treat them like shit" part... They work at home fucking depot. Getting carts and sweeping the store is the new guy job. Big deal.

True, but the treating them like shit part comes into play when non-Nigerians get promoted from that crap after a week and the Nigerians who have been doing the job for months are ignored.

Don't get me wrong here, some of them aren't worth their weight in horse shit. Most Africans do feel entitled and get very rude when their entitlement is questioned. If you don't believe me just watch the scene from Next Friday when the guy tries to return a CD without a case....and with bite marks on it. I'd say that scene is about 110% accurate.

While I'll admit that race and gender still plays a major role in many industries with respect to advancement, I find it unlikely that your very blanket statement is 100% valid and that all non-nigerians are promoted after a week and all nigerians are stuck permanently bringing in carts from the parking lot and sweeping floors.

You are correct. I didn't mean to suggest that ALL of them are looked over for promotion. In this particular case, at this particular location that was the practice. I'm sure things have changed since then.

It seems you people know nothing of how to fuck off at work. Bringing in shopping carts is a great way to get lost when the boss is looking for someone to do some actual hard work. You bring in one or two carts at a time. Looking busy is the key to fucking off.

I had a co-worker that used to stack his desk with papers he pulled out of the recycle box. No one dropped any work on his desk because it was already covered in papers, none of which had anything to do with his work.

Wouldn't the opposite get you promoted out of that position quicker? I mean, if everyone else is screwing around and you're the guy doing good work...

Or is it a case of, "You're too damn valuable to move" because you're the only one doing any actual work?

You'd figure, right? See...I tried that and it only puts the spotlight on yourself so that when you fuck up it is much worse than if you "sham" (as we called it) and are un-noticed and then fuck up. The promotion rate in my company was based on time in, regardless of what you did or didn't do. I also had a retarded-big company at 350 soldiers. But being in aviation that isn't all that abnormal.

Stopped at two home depots today looking for screen windows
At second I went to I heard over intercom a request by a woman speaking plain american for somebody from building material to please come to front desk. then I heard a dude follow up on intercom speaking with some african accent that so and so has the motivation of a Ghanan to get to the front desk in a hurry or something like that
made me giggle when I heard that
I noticed that either the ghanan's or nigerians seem to be manning the cash registers at home depot these days. what the hispanics have moved onward and upward.
