fAter a fallow period in the mid Seventies, the band experienced a revival during the late 1970s and early 1980s with albums Sleepwalker, Misfits, Low Budget, Give the People What They Want and State of Confusion. In addition, groups such as Van Halen, the Jam, the Knack, the Pretenders and the Fall covered their songs, helping to boost the Kinks' record sales. In the 1990s, Britpop acts such as Blur and Oasis cited the band as a major influence.[1] The Kinks broke up in 1996, a result of the commercial failures of their last few albums and creative tension between the Davies brothers.[6] Sully Rd South onto lee Jackson Memorial Hwy into Chantilly, check status of machines at Fair Oaks Mall. Return any defective parts that are present. If you have not heard from Bill Splevins or Mara Toles at this time, continue to Fairfax County Court house. Don't park on Judicial Drive. They were the second group of the British Invasion on The Ed Sullivan Show, appearing in March for two weeks after the Beatles appeared three straight weeks in February 1964. For some time the Dave Clark Five were more popular in the US than in their native UK, but had a renaissance in the UK between 1967 and 1970. The group disbanded in late 1970. On 10 March 2008, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.[2]

This is a prime example of why most unpaid internships should be abolished. They are nothing more than a way for companies to get free work. The only exception should be for internships that are run in connection with independent non-profit schools, and which give the intern educational credit towards a bona-fide diploma or degree.

The question obviously arises that if the intern is using his own computer and software to do video editing at his home, how does this fulfill the "close supervision requirements" of the Fair Labor and Standards Act?

Also, how likely is it that the intern has a professional and not an academic license to use Final Cut Pro or other programs in the Adobe Creative Suite? If they use a video edited by their intern for commercial purposes, does Avery-Hess expose themselves to being sued by Adobe?

This strikes me as a very thinly veiled attempt by Avery-Hess to deliberately break the law and use some intern's unpaid labor where they should be hiring someone.

As the scumbag realtors are looking for a professional video production support...

"Why don't we just post it on Craigslist as an internship and get some kid to do it for free??"

Always out to save as much of that commission as possible. I can't believe my realtor got 3% for the ridiculously little amount of work she did. Maybe I'm in the wrong business.

I should mention that I'm not against internships, but I am against such blatant abuses of the internship system as Avery-Hess seems to be perpetrating here.

I think an enterprising young videographer might be able to make a short documentary out of this experience, detailing chapter and verse all the FLSA violations Avery-Hess perpetrates.

Or maybe one of the local TV stations could do a report using one of their more youthful producers as an undercover.

Ha! Avery-Hess is also looking for a multimedia intern. This description's even more blatant in its "we're looking for free work because we don't want to pay anyone" intent than the Video Production Intern listing.

This post is a fucking master class in how to violate the FLSA, given free by the scumbags at Avery-Hess.

yes please come to the job fair

this is when gov rats have hotels rented on the company dime and close up "early" but still have the room !

walk around only to find really none of them have any work and are really just hiring insiders (family friends and people who are getting kickbacks)

yes none of them really even want to talk about qualifications and hiring because actually: they don't give a crap they already know who they are hiring and it isn't you, unless your a gov insider in which case you don't really go to job fairs to find work

you might get advertising such as a free pen with their company logo! it won't pay for the time and gas, well no.

(if it's in the 2000's please pay to get in and yes we'll fuck you over despite that)

---------------------------
job fair. be there or your really not looking for work.

is what they said and continue to insist is true
