Flashback; Barbara Comstock tried to interfere in Scooter Libby trial. Judge threatened her with a gag order!
Posted by: Howie Lind for Congress ()

Virginia State Del. Barbara Comstock (R) is seeking the GOP nomination to succeed retiring U.S. Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R) in Virginia's 10th District.

Comstock has occupied a variety of political roles, including lead investigator for the House Government Reform Committee in the 1990s, opposition researcher, crisis manager, and chairwoman of Scooter Libby's legal defense fund.

While chairing Scooter Libby's legal defense fund, she leaked several bits of partisan nonsense to the press, allegedly attempting to taint the jury pool.

The judge was very upset with Barbara Comstock and threatened her with a gag order.

Barbara Comstock certainly hangs around some of the sleaziest politicos, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Jon Bolton, Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney, etc.

Given that Libby was railroaded and Armitage eventually admitted to being the one who pitted Plane (Dems still haven't been told that part), turns out she was right.

It is "Plame," not "Plane." Just because Richard Armitage admitting leaking the information, doesn't mean he was the only one who leaked it.

FYI, Libby was was on trial for four counts of perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements. He was acquitted of one count of making false statements, and found guilty on the rest of the charges. He was not on trial for leaking the information.

Auto-correct on a phone...

Armitage was the one who leaked it originally. Nobody else really mattered after it was leaked to Novak and published.

He wouldn't have been on trial to begin with otherwise. And shouldn't have been after. The only reason that he was is that Fitzgerald was determined to "get" somebody associated with the administration even after he knew that it was Armitage. It was a rather petty, vindictive prosecution by almost anyone's standards.

This statement has never been proven. There were at least three people who leaked the information, all pretty close in the timeline to one another.

It was also leaked to Newsweek and the New York Times, Novak was the first to publish it.

Again, there were at least three people who leaked the information.
Scooter Libby interfered and obstructed with the investigation, and lied under oath on several occasions.

Say's who? Victoria Toesing, Mark Levin?

Based on rather minor differences in testimony some of which was subject to interpretation. e.g., whether he was instructed to reveal after the fact when it really made no difference. Even many on the other side saw Fitzgerald as being overly enthusiastic in his pursuit, particularly after the later facts came out.

Anyone who's objective about it. Compared to many other events/cases, a special prosecutor was overkill and never would have happened other than in the context of a hyper-partisan House there at the time. Yeah, he was wrong. But in the scheme of things his role and offenses were relatively minor. The real objective was to try to get to Cheney versus anything having to do with him or anything that he did.

In any case, the most continuing entertaining aspect of the whole deal is that most of the Cheney-haters *still* have never even heard of Armitage. lol

I might have had to also if I were on a jury given how the case was presented and charged. Doesn't mean that it was the right thing to do given the circumstances.

And doesn't changes that it was a politically driven, vindictive pursuit and that most on that side of things *still* have no clue about Armitage. In fact, most have no idea what Libby even did other than he was somehow associated with Cheney so he *must* be EVIL! lol

Although also politically motivated, there's quite a bit of a difference when it's the President who has admittedly lied directly to the public.

Neo Con lackey for a traitor that outed a CIA agent because her husband was against the Iraq war.

That's the fascist Comstock is.

You want to sell your district out to a neo con lackey who managed the defense fund of a Jewish traitor whom outed a CIA agent over a political difference on the horrible Iraq war.

Go ahead give our beloved district to this soul less freak.
