Why isn't Fairfax County on any of the upcoming Google Fiber list of cities/counties?

Because Verizon is probably paying some official to keep google out?

They refused to be shaken down for bribes campaign donations by members of at least two supervisors' staffs.

At the end of one of the meetings between Google's representatives and a supervisor's staffer, the Google reps were thanked for "showing leadership in bringing broadband services to Fairfax County" and that it was hoped that Google would be "showing its leadership in other important ways".

For those of you that don't know, "showing leadership" consists of making a fairly large campaign donation.

Either the Google reps didn't understand that this is how things are done in Fairfax, or they just decided not to make the contributions. Since Google refused to pay, they didn't get to play and the proposal was never brought before the Board.

So THAT's what a homosexual rabbit looks like.

Even if it doesn't come to Fairfax, what about DC proper? Seems like a good place for Google.

It would be great to have competition for the awful pricing of Cox and Verizon, both of which seem to be colluding to raise prices for internet access.

Instead of being vague why don't you call these members out by name if you're certain this actually occurred?

Fairfax County is well on its way to becoming a 3rd world country...why invest here?

There's not a lot of demand here I think, considering Fios is already here, and decent, so long as you don't have to deal with technical support.

I would absolutely love the competition, but truly, other municipalities need it more right now.

Call it Google Towne Centre and they'd be all over it.

Google has a headquarters office in the Reston Town Center by the Microsoft Headquarters building.

Did Google “contribute” to those in office of the other jurisdictions which are on Google’s list or is Fairfax the only corrupt county?

Fairfac County is not business friendly. Too many hoops to jump through. No tax breaks. Isn't that why Exxon Left?
