Trucks Plows Into Tree On McLean Rd. Tree 1 Driver 0

One man was killed in a violent crash that left a McLean, Va., roadway littered with debris early Friday morning.

Fairfax County Police say the vehicle struck a tree in the area of Old Dominion Drive and Peacock Station Road in McLean around 3 a.m. The impact of the crash splintered the tree.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene; other passengers inside the car were also injured. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

Old Dominion Drive between Towlston Road and Peacock Station Road will be closed for several hours in both directions as police conduct their investigation.

I don't like this term "Plow into tree." What was he tree plowing? How am I supposed to know it was an accident and not a purposeful attempt to plow a tree now?

I really think the guy had a death wish. Rumor has it he was driving 140mph (IDK if that's possible in that beater he was driving)

140? Not even possible - even if shoved off a cliff. Top speed @ 90 ~ 100, and given the location (not enough straightaway) dude was maybe around 60 ~ 70. Plenty of velocity to do that kind of damage.

What speed could make a tree splinter? In all fairness I guess we don't know if it was a thick tree or a little twig of one..

Coming from McLean any car can hit top end by that point the bump by peacock station will get you nice and airborne above 125

Beater? It was a Nissan 370z. It is claimed to be capable of 155 mph.
