I am restoring a muscle car and looking for a cheap storage unit that is big enough for a single car. What is the best deal around Fairfax/Annandale area??

I have a collector car as well and have used a few storage places in the Alexandria and FFX areas. Indoor 1 car can get pricey $300-500 per month. If outdoors works for you, you can do much better. There are a few places off the FFX Parkwy - STorage USA I believe is one, but if you go down into Manassas you can save some cash.

Before you dump money into restoring a car, maybe you should save money to buy your own place that has a garage.

Don't get all logical now.

Besides, I'm guessing he's young and possibly still living with his parents or sharing an apartment with a bunch of friends. This might be the only time he can afford to do something like this for a long time.

Don't most of those places have rules against doing more than basic maintenance on your car, though?

But I suppose even if they do, if you do it quietly and don't make a huge mess, the manager might let you slide.

This might be a stretch, but you could try talking to someone who owns a hangar at the Manassas airport. They may let you use a corner of their hangar for a small fee.

I wasn't being sarcastic. He may be in a better position to afford to fix up a car now than he will be when he buys a home or, worse, gets married and has kids.

I don't think it is. Someone 19 or in their early 20's living at home or with a bunch of friends in an apartment is pretty typical. And it is usually the best time to acquire all the toys you want.

I could afford more toys fresh out of college when I rented a house with a bunch of friends than I could when I had a mortgage to pay, or even now that my mortgage is paid off because I have bigger expenses to worry about.
