When I was a really young pup and lived in Lorton we use to explore the Belvoir Vietcong Villages close by.

Talk about some really scary shit. This was back in the 60's and across Route 1, Belvoir had set up some "Vietcon Villages" to help train the soldiers for their tours of Vietnam. I mean, shit, this place had hidden tunnels, punjai sticks and all. We kids would go over there and go down these tunnels and everything. On the way back, we would hit the Old George Washington Church place with all the crypts and spook ourselves out again. Played baseball over near Gunston Hall. I was pretty good, but not good enough to make the majors.

Dude, that is awesome. I wonder if there are any pictures of that place. We were talking at work about the fact that the U.S. Govt. doesn't really talk about the fact that we had WWII POW camps in the continental U.S. What is up with that? Ooops...sorry, I interrupted your story again. Please continue my good man.

What? The US Govt is pretty open about having held kraut POWs at Lorton as well as Ft. Hunt.

A German pow developed night vision goggles at Fort Belvoir, US Army brought his wife and kid here, they lived in Stratford Landing, I think his wife still lives there.
