7 tips for great cherry blossom phone photos

It's hard to take a bad photo of the beautiful cherry blossoms, but it's difficult to take phone photos that stand out. Photographer Cedric Terrell explains how. Add your best cherry blossom photos here. (Photos courtesy of Cedric Terrell)

1. Don't wait too long
"The cherry blossoms are in bloom. The entire Tidal Basin is beautiful, with all the colors popping through, but they only last for such a short period of time," says photographer Cedric Terrell.

2. Get creative with perspective
"Think about the details. Use different angles and get different textures," when taking cherry blossom pictures, says photographer Cedric Terrell.

3. Get closer to the blossoms
Don't use your smartphone's zoom feature, says photographer Cedric Terrell. "Put your phone 4 or 5 inches away from the buds and you'll get some great shots."

4. Lighting is key
"Sunrise and sunset are the best time to get those beautiful colors and sun shining through," says photographer Cedric Terrell.

5. Use blossoms as a frame
"The Mall is so beautiful," says photographer Cedric Terrell. "Frame out the Jefferson Memorial or MLK with the blossoms. Use the architecture to make interesting shots."

6. Don't be limited to sunshine
Rain is expected Friday. "Rain and dew that it leaves on trees can make beautiful photos," says Cedric Terrell. "The fog that lays across the Basin makes for pictures that would be different from the next person's."

7. Consider black and white
"Why take colorful photos of cherry blossoms and convert them to black and white? It tells a different part of the story," says photographer Cedric Terrell. "It captures more detail of the trees and not just the buds."

recent news was mexicans in alex. cut down a whole row of cherry trees in blossom

------------------------------
however look in wash post past

sharon bullova, who's using tax money to run entertainment business using the park system and hiring democrat illegals, has been running many golf courses.

sharon bullova hired mexicans to cut down all a competitor's fruit trees (a golf range), saying fruit trees are not allowed on one's own land in america if sharon bullova is a bitch. did some other gov stuff and guy could not compete stay in business.

the article goes on saying the man complained and tried to sue the county was using the courts to harass him to put him out of business (in teh first 50 years of roman law, that came with a death penalty actually)

i can tell you what happened it was a fake trial

-------------------------------
the spanish used to kill anyone who farmed seed they deemed to be competitive with the holdings of the king of spain

likely the no longer do that. i assume.

the WTOP story said ...

they chopped down all the trees because they were going to replace them with "better landscaping"

the photo evidence shows otherwise. no replacement, and that the trees were well formed beauties

----------------------
hmmmm. i wonder if this another one of fx. co. mandated landscaping changes ?
