FCPS Fundraising Reg. 1370 published (and Boosterthon)

At loooong last, the revamped R1370 is published.

Most notable, perhaps, is that fun runs need to be managed by the school, not school-supporting orgs (like PTA/Os), and funds need to be recorded through the local school activity fund (LSAF). So they are going to allow fundraising during the school day. What was that formula again showing how much that cost per hour?

They don't have enough time to teach cursive, but they have time to fundraise during the school day.

Fuck you and your negative attitude. The boosterthon people are not only good at fundraising but they provide the kids with some serious entertainment and happiness.
Believe it or not it's not all about you and your precious money. Why not try thinking about someone besides yourself once in a while. If you have kids I feel very sorry for them.

Yes they do, they have expenses to cover and they need to make a profit to stay in business. Boosterthon is a great deal all the way around.

They are approaching the point of not being able to read at an 8th grade level so cursive does not mean that much in the broader scheme of things.

ME and MY precious money?
I am not the one using kids to raise money instead of teaching them to sign their name. I don't give a rat's ass about them having fun with fundraisers.

+1

Last spring, Poplar Tree ES polled their members: no-fuss or Boosterthon?

Within a week, they had their answer: 40% Boosterthon, 60% no-fuss.

A couple years before, the same school used no-fuss to reach their financial goal without Boosterthon. Their FB post:

Do you mean what % of child-generated revenue goes to Boosterthon?

Well first, it should bother people that parents such as yourself rarely know the answer to this question. This % should be made clear up front.

Second, as mentioned in the video, the % going to Booster is according to a sliding scale. And it's possible, I guess, that this scale can vary from contract to contract. So to get your answer from the horses mount, check with the folks running the fun run at Silverbrook ES.

It was a scandal then and it's a scandal now. The best have left White Oaks anyway. The offending and rogue PTA past president is still working there. Looks bad for all.

The PTA or PTO of these schools are doing Boosterthons this fall nonetheless.

Kings Park
Kings Glen
Forest Edge
Navy
Oakton

It's possible, I suppose, that there's some kinda grace period...?
